Hobo Jungle
Re: Hobo Jungle
I've got the room for that Midge, but not the money at the moment. To be honest and sensible, two is about as many as I can enjoyably handle and keep in good nick. If I would take on three, one would be preserved while the other two would be running.
I should be around next week. I saw Dave the other day; he said he's made good progress so a call might be in order.

Re: Hobo Jungle
This may not be the place to mention what has happened in Paris during the last several hours but those events along with
some events recently in the U.S., which may be minor in comparison, are of concern to me. I realize that there is not much
I can do about any of it. I would hope that the various presidential candidates might give some thought to these events
both foreign and domestic.

Re: Hobo Jungle
Too soon to tell, Roger, but it looks like some serious mutts came into France with the refugee flood that has hit Europe from Syria &c. The French opened their borders and arms and are now reaping the reward for humanitarianism many feared would happen?
I hope not, but I fear it to be likely...

Dave called this evening...his ears must have been burning. I'll definitely be up next week...I'll let you know before I just show up...
Re: Hobo Jungle
My thoughts too, Sarge. One hates to think its true but really, if one was a terrorist how could that flood of refugees be ignored as the potential for slipping in some ringers to spread alarm and confusion?
Better yet, from the hypothetical terrorist point of view, the predictable backlash that will cause in the general public (assuming its confirmed) can only drive more recruits toward the cause. No need to risk getting discovered by shipping them in armed and ready, they can be absorbed and then equipped later, probably as human bombs being by far the simplest and most effective way to use the poor sods.
I could see this one coming the first time reports came in about refugees streaming across various borders. What a nightmare for the governments concerned, they can't do much to stop them without cries of outrage from humanitarian organisations, look at Germany's response and ask yourself how much of that is fuelled by a residual feeling of shame about the Nazi legacy.
Its a no win situation for all concerned, even under the best of circumstances a lot of the refugees will be like a fish out of water, strangers in a strange land. When one thinks of what else these refugees could have been salted with which I won't even mention God forbid it should give anyone any ideas however remote the chance.
The end results can only be bad, I fear.

One of the guys i do shipping for is on a business trip to France. He is in Paris now. While talking with his this morning he said " the streets of Paris were empty." He Told me earlier in the day had been to the restaurant that blow up "
This was not an act of refugees from the last round. This was done buy people who have been in France for awhile. France leads the world in no go zones.
If you don't know what a no go zone is click here. http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/5128/ ... o-go-zones

Athens (AFP) - A Syrian passport found by police at the scene of the mass shooting in a Paris concert hall belonged to an asylum seeker who registered on a Greek island in October, a Greek minister said Saturday.
"We confirm that the Syrian passport holder came through the Greek island of Leros on October 3 where he was registered under EU rules," said a statement issued by Nikos Toskas, the minister for citizen protection.

Re: Hobo Jungle
Too soon to tell, both of you. IS claims the op, and if that actually pans out to being the case give it a bit, and I'll bet it shakes out that the on-site leaders will be a few who have been there for a while, and the troops themselves will have come with the refugee stream. I'm also guessing Paris isn't the only EU centre with that structure in place at the moment.
Don't believe everything you read, for the next little while at least.
One thing that will be interesting to watch is the effect this shift of strategy on the part of (assuming it is fact) the IS has on your election. The current administration has a history of a very "scattered" foreign policy. more based on US political reality rather than world reality. A political opportunity is quickly seized upon while a solid long term comprehensive and well-understood policy is beyond their ability. The current front-runner on the Dem side is the poster child for that policy of political opportunism without position of policy. That reactive rather than proactive approach cost some lives when things went extreme in Libya.
IS is smart enough to know when politics will preclude serious response, so will be watching whether the USA will vote in more of the same, much as Iran watched and reacted to Carter's fall and Reagan's election in 1980. The question is, then, do you have a Reagan to replace the current Carter?

Not at present. Picking a clown out from the 1% tour is unlikely to fill that order.
I expect nothing and I’m still let down.

Re: Hobo Jungle
At brunch yesterday, we overheard (couldn't avoid it) a guy suggesting a united Western Civilization threaten to bomb Mecca - to flatten it - I believe was the exact vitriolic wording. He wondered if that would "get 'their' attention." It sure got the attention of the whole restaurant.

Some of us do; someone not named Trump. The question is, then, do you have a Reagan to replace the current Carter?

Re: Hobo Jungle
Politics aside, I don't see one unless they just haven't cast their "hat in the ring".
Clinton's election will be seen as an open invite by these people, especially with her baggage from Benghazi and their male-centric beliefs. Trump would be seen as an opportunity as well though perhaps not the free reign represented by Clinton, his message so confused by anti-incumbancy as not to have a clear policy in mind; the rich infidel ready to have his angry stupidity exploited.
Now would be a good time for clarity of purpose regarding a foreign policy, especially given Obama's repetition of the usual "why we can't" today. "Why we can't" is seen as weakness; "how we will" is seen as a strength, especially when followed by an action that clearly states the policy as one that will be followed.
Fascinating and bizarre day today when the President of France says plainly France is dedicated to destroy IS at the same time the President of the US speaks intellectualisms and ineffectiveness.
Murph, I agree that flattening Mecca is beyond stupid, for revenge isn't what's called for. That culture does listen to things such as clarity of purpose, resolve, likelihood of defeat, and likelihood of death. They have never been historically given to responding to a lack of clarity (seen as weakness), revenge for revenge's sake (seen as cowardice), or a hand reached out in Christian understanding and love rather than the firm fair wielding of a properly mailed fist, I'm afraid.
A big grunt from the fat snoring giant and a great blind spasmodic thrashing about with cruise missiles in the sand-dunes followed by a fart and a rolling-over-back-to-sleep is not what would be effective, either, though that is the most these mutts are expecting for at least the next year. A calculated methodical merciless response speaks clearly.
Let's see what tomorrow brings...

Re: Hobo Jungle
You mean like secretly training the Yisidi men for six months or so on how to take back their town and then backing them up with a little air power while they do it. What a great idea, and not tipping your hand to your enemy by blathering on about what you're going to do ahead of time just to quell the press and the hoy poloy at home is probably a good idea too.
Re: Hobo Jungle
If there was ever a press that needs D notices, its ours! Sarge will know what that means.
