My daughter has informed me that it is a not uncommon condition - think too many drinks, obnoxious yuppies & their guppies, and just generally unpleasant folks that really define that part of the gene pool that needs to drained, scrubbed with bleach, and filled in with concrete,

False Roger.

Johnson & Johnson thermometers are "Certified for accuracy." No where on the package or in the instructions does it say they are, "personally tested and then sanitized."

Other thermometers found at my local Walgreen's drug store have these statements:
1) "calibrated for accuracy."
2) a professionally accurate instrument
3) Accuracy: +/- 0.2°F between 96.0-107.0°F at room temperature of 71.0°F
4) Measurement accuracy: ± 0.1 ° C

I have serious doubts about the veracity of those statements. I have two digital thermometers at home. One says my temperature is 97.1, the other 94.3. In my opinion the only mouth or rectal thermometers that can be trusted are the liquid in glass style.

NOTE--They do not use mercury in medical thermometers any more.
