Thank you Rich and Pete.

Pete, I saw, thanks. Now about using my photo for your desktop... there is a licensing requirement. My attorney has sent you an e-mail.

Tramp, I had a dream last night that you and Jake got admitted to my psychiatric unit.
Of course, THAT part wasn't surprising.
What was surprising was that both of you found yourselves out of cigarettes. I didn't expect that from a pair of experienced old hobos such as yourselves.
So I headed to a store, to buy you guys some out of my own pocket. Jake was OK with a regular brand, but you insisted on me getting loose tobacco and rolling papers. I thought to myself, (you rolling a simulated 'doob' on the unit), THAT will get plenty of people excited!

The editor at the paper called this “an absolute laugh-out-loud treat.”  Not so sure my mother would’ve approved, but I know she would’ve forgiven me.

That was lovingly written Tramp. I am sure "The little old lady from Down East" would glow with pride having you for a son (after flaming you for writing that.) It's the way moms are.

Pete, I've told Jake about your dream, and it changed his life.

I'm sure it did.
It DID occur to me that you guys both had cigarettes, but were scamming me for extra packs. That's the more likely scenario.

Good article! As always.
No aspersions to the ladies, and I have no doubt that your wife is an accomplished driver, and I can't explain why this is, but 9 times out of 10, when somebody is riding my ***, and I mean like within 2 feet at 40-50 MPH, it is a woman driver.
And my own wife is a tailgater. Drives me to distraction.

Falcons are cool and beautiful birds. I've only seen kestrels and merlins around here. There must be peregrines, just never seen one of which I've been certain. I'm curious as to which bird you're referring, with the 'Penobscot' reference, but I'm supposing the latter.

We have a very cool bird of our own around here that is always a thrill to spot- a harrier, or marsh hawk, also a large bird, which have the long slender wings of the true falcons. Rather than soar above on thermals like many hawks, they have the ability in a breeze, with their wingspan, to skim an entire field very close to the ground, usually within 2 or 3 feet, with wings held open. And with their large white rump spot, they're very striking and unmistakable in appearance, and are a treat to watch.

Tramp,

I'll drink two to your mother the next time I am at Gomers and a round will be on me.

Your writings are always an enjoyable read and I look forward to them.

Pete, when another driver is attempting to fock your car in the ***, there's a neat trick. Stay on the accelerator but light your brake lights with a delicate touch to the brake pedal. For real assholes you might have to repeat.

The falcon I'm referencing is the Maltese Falcon. Bogart chased those chasing it for an entire amazingly funny and cool movie. It was supposed to be the most valuable object on earth. Turned out to be lead. Doesn't my drawing look like it?

Anyone want to see more student drawings? These blow the pine cones out of the woods. The assignment was "lunch counter."

Tramp, yes, I knew it was the Maltese falcon, and yes, I assumed you made the excellent drawing. But considering the osprey we (I) enjoyed on the waterfront, I wondered if you had had a falcon-moment in your town that led you to adopt the name. I never saw the movie, but I recognized the image.

One more bird story. When I lived in Lewisburg, (and I've never seen these birds anywhere else, though they are native everywhere), there were birds called 'night hawks', I'd see them flitting above the small-town buildings hunting insects, and they had this amazing repetitive habit of winging themselves up pretty high, and then tucking their wings and going into what looked like a high-speed suicide dive straight down, only to pull up at the last possible moment. Loved to watch them.

Absolutely, I want to see the 'lunch counter' series. Thematically, these will be more to my liking.

I wish I could rig up a pair of pop-out foot-and-a-half spikes that would come out of my hatchback trunk lid, about radiator height, so that I could tap my brakes for real. I think that would be closer to effecting a 'cure'. The steam alone would force them to slow down.

Those, or a bazooka.

Dirt,

The Nighthawk was once very common all over the eastern U.S.both in the north and south.
Today it is absent from many parts of that area.
I remember watching them when I lived in Ohio and Kentucky but do not recall seeing any in the part of Georgia where I now live. They were fun to watch.

WOW!
I think they need to improve the shadows...
too many in different ways. IMO.

Somebody had a visit from Uri Geller.

We have some of that pattern of the flatware.

I must agree with Andre on the shadows. Some are from too many directions.I know it is possible to have more than one light source in real life but I would think that for an art class this wouldn't happen. The shadows do seem to be more correct in the last one.

My criticism aside,I wish I could do as well as any of them.

Wayne,

I don't think he is so much gone as re-invented, and I doubt the beer will stop flowing anytime soon!
