The pole on that car is sideways, the motorman must be changing ends.
EDIT: The track seems to end just in front of the trolley.

Look at the prior card - same location; different view. Appears that that line does end/start there in front of the Traction Bldg. Interesting arrangement.

One of the few times I have been able to capture cards that provide 2 different POV images. Wonder if any of it survives?

Interesting site describing an example of trolley service in and around Lancaster, Pennsylvania:

Re: Subway, Elevated, Trolley & Traction Lines photos
Nice. Some years back, I picked up a similar one at a trolley meet but it was pantograph-equipped. What was really odd was that I got the car without the pan (it was mounted with dress snaps) and found, a little later at the same meet, a pan with snaps but from a different vendor! A few minutes later when I got them together, it was a perfect fit. Note that there was a paint mark on one of the snaps on the pan and on the car that matched; probably put there to mark the proper mounting alignment.
Anyway, how the two got separated I will, more probably than not, never know.

Is this the same outfit that made/makes the Pittman can motors?

I have wanted the eight-wheel drive version for quite a while to use the drive to re-power me WB&A #18.
