Was this a reissue of sorts of the prewar 238E, but with a modern era tender? I can't quite tell if it's the same boiler casting, but can see they changed up the pilot truck to a four-wheel version, making it a true Pacific.

I need to build a couple of small dioramas for a non-model railroad project and I'm wondering how this stuff gets held in place. The label mentions using spray scenic cement (5191), sprinkle the snow on, then a top-coat of spray scenic cement to seal it. Anyone ever tried it?

Never used the "snow" but do use the scenic cement (5191). But never have sprayed that stuff....probably have to dilute and filter it before running it through a duck head sprayer. Might also have to give everything an alcohol spray 1st, too.

Thanks for the input, Rufus. I've used "glitter" type stuff before, but that's much coarser than this super-fine material (in terms of granularity). Next time I'm up to Mainline I'll look for the scenic cement (5191). Likely a considerable upgrade over Elmer's or LocTite's spray adhesive.

It's got a bit of a nose to it until it's completely cured; I generally spray an area that's got ground cover, etc. with alcohol and then add the scenic cement using a disposable pipette to control how much goes where.....and then add another layer of ground cover.
