I'm a bit confused by the earlier responses...can an LC 2.0 loco be run conventionally?

Yes. It can run with a Lionchief Universal Remote, Bluetooth App, Conventional, and with TMCC/Legacy Hardware.

I was thinking more of a situation on a layout of each person operating one loco each.
Assuming there is enough track space would there be a limit?
How would this be raised?
This is all just curiosity.

Yep if 20 operators came over with 20 unique LC or LC+ engines, each one can run on the same track along with Legacy as long as adequate power is available. With Legacy the limit is the number of TMCC IDs. For LC and LC+, I am not sure what determines that limit but so far I haven't heard of any.

Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I used to think that's what a transformer was.

How portable does a remote have to be? My butt doesn't leave the sofa while I'm using my TV remote. There's nothing inaccurate about saying that your transformer allows you to remotely operate your trains. One of Webster's definitions of remote control is "a device or mechanism for controlling something from a distance". There's no mention of it having to be wireless. One definition being more common does not preclude others.

Almost everyone that wants remote control of the train wants mobility. I was sold on the CAB-1 not because of the features, sound, etc but because I was able to walk down to the other side of the layout and diagnose why a switch was causing intermittent derails. I couldn't do that before unless I was willing to unhook the transformer, move it, and the move it back and rewire. CAB-1 was an easy stroll and I could run the train, throw the switch, and observer first hand what was going on.

I have three All-Trols on my line. Corded walkarounds, memory box, unplug, remembers, move to the next box, plug it.
Mobility. Conventional power (currently a ZW maxed out for two of them).

I have a Marn-0-Stat walkaround...corded....big box with reverse and throttle rheostat. Probably 30 times bigger than the All-Trol walkaround.

Back to the original post; well, sort of anyway, the only items in the 2019 V1 that I like and may get are the brewery, office block, and warehouse. Combined they will make a decent industry.

Neat thing about this is you use your power pack, your wiring, your block controls, and remove the wires from your pack, connect to this box, make two more and jump from the box to the power pack.

Of course, they haven't made them in over 25 years, but still....

Do I remember correctly that these controls were usable with any scale etc. ?
If so, I may have used some on some friends HO and S layouts some time ago.

These are AC, he made DC versions, in fact, I have one DC hand piece here.

The nice thing about the LC, LC+, and LC+2.0 is that with a remote that comes with them or the Universal remote (or Bluetooth device), there is nothing to add to a layout to get it going in command. Put the engine on the track and turn the power on and run using a simple remote.

I'm going to be a downer here, but I think Lionel missed the mark with the LC+2.0
There's no middle market. LC+ was a good bargain at 250ish an engine. While yes, you get more features, I feel the lower end consumer is priced out.

I also think the prices are a bit out of hand. I know they are list, but still. For someone just looking to get into the hobby or someone who can't drop a ton of $$ on trains, the catalog is a putoff. Add to that all the recent QC issues & it leaves a sour taste in your mouth. I just picked up an LC+ Reading GP7 & I was crossing my fingers that it wouldn't be DOA when I got it. Thankfully it works, but the bluetooth app to run it on my phone is very glitchy at best.
