I hate it when this happens.

Ark. man kills deer in house, with bare hands

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — For 40 exhausting minutes, Wayne Goldsberry battled a buck with his bare hands in his daughter's bedroom.

Goldsberry finally subdued the five-point whitetail deer that crashed through a bedroom window at his daughter's home Friday.

When it was over, blood splattered the walls and the deer lay dead on the bedroom floor, its neck broken.

Goldsberry was at his daughter's home when he heard glass breaking. He went back to check on the noise and found the deer.

"I was standing about like this peeking around the corner when the deer came out of the bedroom," Goldsberry said.

The deer ran down the hall and into the master bedroom, he said, "jumping back and forth across the bed."

Goldsberry, about 6-feet-1 and 200 pounds, entered the bedroom to confront the deer and, after a brief struggle, emerged to tell his wife to call police. After returning to the bedroom, the fight continued.

The man finally was able to grip the animal and twist its neck, killing it.

Goldsberry, sore from the struggle, dragged the dead animal out of the house.

"He got kicked several times. He was walking bowlegged for a while," Deputy Doug Gay said.

At this time of year, a buck that sees its reflection in a window often charges, believing it is fighting off a rival, Gay said.

Goldsberry had the deer butchered.

"He's in the freezer," the man said before walking to the kitchen and showing off pounds of freshly wrapped venison.

I have been busy and haven't been able to spend much time talking BS. For some weird reason I missed it. I now have been dragged kicking and screaming back into coach basketball. I gave a commitment for one year of AAU basketball.

Now for the bad news. My daughter's dog somehow got off of it's chain last week. I didn't worry too much because it always comes home. But this night when my daughter asked me to look for it I said I was too busy with work and didn't have the time. After all the last two times it came home after a few hours.

Well the hours turn to days then and one week to the night we found him after my daughter put up posters in the local shops. The dog was hit by a car the same night he broke free. A good friend of mine went and picked him up since another person told him where it was. He even had to dig through the snow to find him.

I hope in the future I'm never too busy for my kids.

Now the bigger problem when is the right time to tell an 11 year old her dog is dead? She looks for him every day and I don't have the heart to break the news this close to Christmas. For now I have placed Sparky in the barn since he should keep with the cold weather.

Yeah I know this isn't the end of the world but when you get down to the real things in life these are the important ones.

Reno, bury the dog, then break the news to her gently, and then show her the grave. Kids have great resiliency, she'll cry her eyes out for a day or two, then she'll be alright. I have about 9 dogs and 1 cat buried at the end of my property, and having raised 4 kids, this is the way it is. These things happen. I think the one that devastated us the most was 6 years ago when our 2 year old Great Dane, (Jackson) was hit by a car. And, when my current 6 year old Dane goes, (Major, Jacksons' brother), I'll probably be the one most upset. For my son, Scott, when his monster Dane, (Marshall) goes, well, I don't think he'd be right for a year.

BTW, after Jackson, I bought the Invisible Fence. Best investment I've ever made. Also got 2 of the neighbors to get the Fence, too. My dogs absolutely do not leave the yard.

Talked with Hev tonight. The doc took the tube out of his arm that went to his lung. He's getting around better now, (even after a couple of hours), and is building back his stamina as best he can. Here's a toast to one tough SOB hoisted in a fine cobalt blue Labatt glass.

I remember it like it was yesterday. My best friend Leigh and I were chugging beers tooling south on Rte.9 in my parents Nomad somewhere between Halfmoon and Latham, NY. A "pit stop" was soon needed when we spotted an abandoned gas station on the northbound side. I drove in and parked behind the station. As I relieved myself I noticed the rear entry door to the building was ajar. I nodded to Leigh and he sheepishly grinned. As we entered the station we first were aware or the falling plaster, oil cans and trash littered everywhere. Then there she was. An Aston Martin. Yeah- a fuckin' gleaming bonifide silver/gray colored throughbred sitting abandoned in the single service bay. Our jaws dropped. Not many kids might have known what they were looking at. But I did. After owning an MG, a Triumph TR-6 and eventually a Jag, I knew. We ran our hands down the bonnet of this beauty until we got to the side windows. Peering inside there were the keys sitting in the ignition. The hair stood up on my neck as I felt a chill of fear go right through me. Mafia. Or maybe some rich crooked lawyer hiding his investment from the ex-wife to be. Who knew. But it was time to leave, and quick. I'll never forget that beautiful girl sitting there.

Is this the Christmas Season, or what? I rarely watch television, and when I do, it's rarely Network TV, but, I've just got to ask. Where in the hell are the Budweiser Clydedales? Nothing tells ya better'n the big Bud Wagon with those 8 beautiful horses with their jingle bells on, prancin' down a snow covered street, that Christmas is near. Maybe I'm just watchin' the wrong stations, but I haven't seen 'em yet.

At work tomorrow, the schedule is loaded for the morning, and by lunch time, we'll be partyin'. The service manager kicked in the money for a 40# box of wings, 2 guys are bringin' their deep fryers, I got a case of Blue, and another guy is bringin' a 30 of somethin'. Somebody mentioned somethin' about a 1/2 gallon of JD Black. Then off until Wed. mornin'. Times are good.
