A belated but no less sincere 'Thanks!' to Will for his hospitality of Tuesday last.
He played 'Scrooge' in a showing of "Scrooge, the Musical" at the Shawnee Playhouse, in an extended run from Nov 26 until tonight. It was an exceedingly charming and entertaining show, and Will was awesome, portraying an entire adulthood of stingy meanness and miserly penuriousness with as little as a curl of a sarcastic lip and an arching eyebrow.
Not to mention how our hobo ladies would have reacted to our hobo Scrooge in a pair of longjohns. (I could feel the redhead starting to sweat!)
And, nothing like 'live theater' in such an intimate setting.
His biography/credits in the playbill were hugely impressive. He'd be, of course, too modest to make a deal of them, and he'd kill me to list them here, but it included "Stanley" in "A Streetcar named Desire", which would have lost me the redhead for sure.
After the show, we repaired to his home, where we were treated to Will's homemade warm apple crisp with whipped cream, and a Black Widow beer. *Yum*!
Yessir, for a scurfy hobo, he's a good man, and I'm proud to have him for a friend. Proud.

Ah, forgot this:
On the ride home along Rt.80, we saw a small group of deer alongside the road, and we both got to laughing, as it reminded us of a previous time when we were driving through the forested Pennsylvania night, only that time, the deer were strung out across the road. The redhead grabbed my arm and started yelling "BLINK YOUR EYES! BLINK YOUR EYES!", and I leaned forward and started *blinking* for all I was worth, which seemed to make NO impression upon the deer, as I swerved through their numbers.
She had, of course, misspoken.

This working on the railroad is killing me. Swinging that sledge. I'm making two 35 foot ovals with a passing siding. This year I'm nailing the track through the carpet into the subflooring. Should be nice if I ever get anything finished. Station is in.
Jon, I think it's time for a beer. What say?
Yeah, don't have TP, use OGR. Thanks for the laugh, but you might have upset D with that one. The retraction was tactful.

Tramp, dammit, about time to go buy yourself a digital camera. I know what that layout is going to become.
I was watching the Rose Bowl Parade, and they had a float that was an honest-to-god steam engine, complete with running-gear, a tender and a passenger car. It was a great illusion, until with a tremendous blast, there issued forth.... a diesel horn.
If anyone's interested, there's a comet going by, Comet Machholz. Nothing dramatic, you'll just be able to say you saw it, and I've seen lots better. Not something that happens every day though.
Must have something to do with Tramp setting up his trains.
It's naked-eye, but binocs are better. It's in Taurus, but the good time will be the 7th, 8th, and 9th, when it will be flying by the Pleiades.
