Hobo Jungle
Hev, any man who travels with his own coals is serious about eats. Man oh man that looks tasty. Can you throw one as far as the coast of Maine?

"Amen" to that! One of the all-time's.
I don't do it for a living though. I can get out on my tractor when I have the time, not when I have to make the time, because I'm just mowing my fields. Maybe that makes it more fun, but I do love rolling over the land, smelling the dust and cut-stuff. It's all got it's own smell- (for instance, the Queen-Anne's Lace must be related, because it smells exactly like carrots). My fields are hilly, so I get the constant change of horizon and angles of the sun to keep it interesting, like a flatlander wouldn't have. Last time, I had two or three swallows following along behind me, likely since I was raising a menagerie of field bugs into the air. Within a few minutes, there were more than I could count and be sure of their numbers, for all their swooping and diving, but there were twenty if there was one. Now that was a lot of fun!
Between the heat and the thrum of the motor and the swaying of the tractor, I get to where I'm almost zoning into a trance- it's the Lazy Man's Zen.
Hev, that was a nice little tractor show I caught on Sunday. Seemed like everybody knew everybody, small and intimate. But they had some cool stuff to look at. Here's one of a big ol' 8630.
Seems to have picked up a stowaway.
I'll try to put a couple more on tomorrow.
In the meantime, here's two for Hev-

Well, I just spent 3½ hours mowing through Timothy, Orchard grass, Canadian Thistle, Clover, Queen Anne's lace, Sumac, Multiflora Rose, Goldenrod, Blackberry, and innumerable other species I have yet to identify.
Ain't a nice stand of Alfalfa, but then again, I ain't Renovo! Not by a looooooong shot!
Ain't gonna be making any money off it, and it ain't fit for eating, either.
Looks a d*mn sight better, though!
Now that I've beat all the chaff off my clothes, (lest the redhead beat all the snot out of me!), I'm sitting down to a cup of coffee and a piece of peach pie, scratch-built top-to-bottom with local Amish peaches by none other than The Dirt himself!
Here's a couple more pictures from the Montour tractor show last Sunday.
Hev, a '37 JD GP, nicely restored. Love those spokes!
Here's why ya don't want to drive one of these babies TOO drunk!
There's more controls up top, too.
And the 'business'-end. And the name, cast in iron!
The craft of the forge.

Pretty little F-20, also a '37, same as the John Deere.
The whole works is suspended from two rails that run fore and aft, connected front and rear.
On my Super-A, the engine case and transaxle cast IS the supporting-member, nothing else!
Cute arrangement! I guess this is to make it easier to separate the engine from the tranny?
The 'control'-end.
Check out the decal. Did you ever see a prettier name in all of tractordom??
The 'business'-end...
Ya don't have to worry about forgettin' the firing order. Cast in iron!!

Time to get in the shower, vacuum, put in a load of dishes, make the bed, then get the kids off the bus. Then, it's straight to the dentist for the two younger ones, then airborne has soccer practice. Gotta fit a meal in there somewhere, and then homework and showers for the kids.
The redhead is back in school, and has a 12-hour class today, 8-8.
Daddy has to pitch-in, lest the redhead beat the snot...etc. etc.
A few more pictures later.
Hev, thanks, friend.
