Willy and Tramp,... fascinating discourse!

(I love it when you guys talk dirty!)

I've had this picture 'saved' in my computer for a long time:

Image

...but I can't explain why I love it so much. That gorgeous blue, contrasted with that chalk-white collar, the lit and the shadowed, the color gradation across her face, that slightly open mouth, and those grey-green eyes... but it's the look that does it also. Figures, me being a psychiatric nurse, that I look for the storys. There's more to this than a portrait.

I don't know if the movie by the same name as the painting was historically accurate, but Scarlett Johansson played the Girl, and she's a freakin' work of art in herself.

I love to blow it up. You see so much more, or so much different, I'm not sure which.
I get absolutely lost in this painting.

Just humor me. Here's a sample of what I mean. Look at that color. Look into those eyes.

Image

I'd love to hear one or both of you guys talk about this painting.

One small tragedy of my life is that I didn't get to ride Rt. 66 in it's heyday.

How can one complain, however, when we've got Interstate 40 to replace it?

Forget Hudson River Valley, Willy, at least in the East. It's been paved-over. I've never traveled out west. I'll bet Dufus could show us some beautiful Valleys.

This is as good as it will get for me. The Fishing Creek Valley at dawn. East to West.

There's a home near that big ash tree.

It'll do.

But... one more work of art.

A portrait.

This one is a true original!

Southern humor.
After their 11th child, an Alabama couple decided that was enough, as
they could not afford a larger bed.

So the husband went to his veterinarian and told him that he and his
cousin didn't want to have any more children.

The doctor told him that there was a procedure called a vasectomy that
could fix the problem but that it was expensive. "A less costly
alternative," said the doctor, "is to go home, get a cherry bomb,
(fireworks are legal in Alabama) light it, put it in a beer can, then
hold the can up to your ear and count to 10."

The Alabamian said to the doctor, "I may not be the sharpest tool in the
shed, but I don't see how putting a cherry bomb in a beer can next to my
ear is going to help me."

"Trust me," said the doctor.

So the man went home, lit a cherry bomb and put it in a beer can. He held
the can up to his ear and began to count!

"1"

"2"

"3"

"4"

"5"

( you'll love this...)

At which point he paused, placed the beer can between his legs and
continued
counting on his other hand.

This procedure also works in Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, Mississippi,
> Missouri, Florida, West Virginia and Washington DC.

Dirt, you really do live in a kind of paradise. Thanks for the lovely photos of The Land For Which Hobos Dream.

Will, we need to get you back to a place where you're not in aesthetic pain. I can't imagine a fellow like you surviving Florida for more than a few years. But I'm sure it has good points. Is there any place that doesn't? Iraq at the moment comes to mind, but I haven't been there. I don't see a lot of vacation promos for the area.

I like mowing my own yard. I actually really enjoy it. I'd only worry that one of those girls would mow over something she shouldn't.

Tramp, no better than anywhere else, just different. Jon's surroundings look absolutely beautiful. Hev's area IS gorgeous, as was Will's, as is your's, because I've seen them all. Get Daisy out and around with her camera. That morning I spent roaming your town and the water were precious hours. It would be fun to see them through her eyes.
Guess I'm just the only one bold enough to throw up pictures. It's time I stop. They're getting repetitious, because those few views are all we have.
It is a peaceful place, and quiet. I'll give it that.

Tell me what you see in that Vermeer.
That painting really gets to me.

Maybe someday it'll go up on ebay. :D
