My good man, those would be from left to right, Schultz and Dooley, Utica Club beers Trademark advertising fellows. Help me, am I the only one who remembers them as a kid??? Of course from what I recall it was pretty much an upstate NY beer.

I drank UC longneck bar bottles at the Crystal Restaurant in Watertown, NY. They dredged 'em out of the ice behind the bar. They tasted pretty bad but I enjoyed every sip anyway.

I picked my Son up early from daycare and went to do some last minute shopping for tomarrow. The first stop was the PX to get a few bottles of cheer. As we were standing in the check out line, a woman behind me mentioned I had picked out a good brand of sour mash. She said it was her husband's favorite. And that he had passed away two years now. My next stop was the country store that I was was picking up our smoked turkey at. And a woman standing next to me at the butchers window noticed my uniform and asked me if I had heard the engineering unit had returned from Iraq. I told her I had heard. She said everyone but her nephew. She said it, looking at me with a bitterness in her voice. I expressed my sympathy. It did'nt seem to help.
On the ride home my Son fell asleep. I can't help but stare at this handsome prince and feel so blessed to be here for this Thanksgiving Day.

Jon, you do have a great-looking boy. I'm glad you're here too. Be damn sour on this forum without you.

The turkey brined over night. 18 pounder. We got the Willie Nelson American Spirit bird this year. The turkey has only listened to Willie. As some of you know, the heavy mteal birds are a bit tough. Mozart bird was a tab churlish. I'll let you know on the Willie bird. No matter what music the turkeys listen to, they all eat only grain grown by Kansas virgins. I just hope those to friends of Jon's show up in the jungle. I like hobos, and those two would dress up any holiday. I'd like to polish their shoes for them. Those white shoes can get dirty easy out on the line.

Hope everyone has a good bird day.

I don't know what kind of music our bird listened to. But he and I are both in salt water; I am surfing this afternoon (thank God for wetsuits), he is being brined (no wet suit for him). Kosher salt, honey, garlic, gloves and peppercorns.

Those were some show stoppers on the way home, Jon. I would have been dumbfounded. On the brighter side, I'm glad you have some time with the youngster.

I feel those that are in touch with the inevitable seem to have a greater celebration of life. I feel that that is one of the reasons this forum rolls on.
Tilting a windmills, running where angels fear to tread, taking one more drink than necessary from life's precious cup! It's pleasing to know a group of strangers bound by a hobby can carry on with our shared beliefs and ALWAYS respect one anothers opinions before a flame erupts. And even those that come here to stir up trouble usually wind up back here not as trolls, but as the friendly rogue in us all. I embrace you all this holiday as friends. And thank you for doing me the same. Except for this turkey "brining" crap. Are you all nuts? My father and I used to do it with game birds and rabbits, but turkeys? hmmmm. I'm gonna swat my wifes ***, run the Shay for my Boy, fix a sourmash, and get back with you. Especially with San. This surfing stuff. I was out at Long Beach, Ca. doing some "Boeing stuff" and my hotel was at Huntington Beach across from Hwy.1. I'd walk out to the pier every afternoon watching an endless stream of surfers hit the waves!Surfers don't eat do they? They're all way to skinny!!!

Tramp, Yep. I'd rather be wined, and dined , then brined, I reckon. But ,I will research this culinary art before rendering my final judgement!!

kinda reminds me of turning down sprout burgers in Ca. only luckily finding a true irish pub that served corned beef with boiled cabbage and pints of ale to wash it down with!!!!

Jon, just because the Yuppies (or whoever) discover something, should not ruin it. My wife has been brining for many years. It really does make a tasty turkey. I know how you feel though. Imagine how I felt when all the assholes starting smoking cigars, or drinking Guinness, or any number of things they didn't know a damn thing about and only did because they thought it was trendy.

Cheers, buddy. May you be brined tomorrow. I know I'm going to get brined.

Tramp, I was just amazed, because in my 40+ years have never heard of "brining", then in one day you, San, AND my younger Brother, are talking about it!!
I'm gonna check it out and get "brined" doing it!! CHEERS ALL!!
