Problem solved. I used small nylon tie-wraps to secure the rubber tubing to the drive shafts. Result: sm-o-o-ot-h as silk operation! I can see why the rubber tubing was used- to absorb torque shock, but certainly a better means of securing it could have been engineered. Leave it to my beer soaked brain to figure it out, eh? Anyhows, pic's- I'll get some more during the daylight hours tomorrow for better detail.

Jon, maybe when the rubber tubes were new they fit tighter. Perhaps Gary has replacement rubbers or you can purchase new tubing? I'm curious if this is the way 3rd Rail sent them out. Glad it's running. Anything else wrong with it?

Umm...the tie-wraps doesn't make any vibration?
Andre, I could see it being a problem if it were a high revving delicately balanced engine. But the fat low torque Pittman motor isn't bothered a bit.
Tramp, the only other minor issue is the old school Ott Machine sound system. That's an easy upgrade for this Fall. With drive system now "modified by Jon" I'm thrilled to own it!!

You ARE persistent, Jon. I give up on a poop after 20 minutes. (Now that's funny, I don't care who you are).

Mitch, Even though my cranial capacity is more limited then the majority of posters here, I've always had the male desire to try and figure out how things work. (Or not work).
Tramp, In answer to your question the tubing is in perfect condition. What happened was the gear grease seeped from the seals on the gear cases and worked it's way under the tubing. I'm sure even with new tubing the same thing would happen. It was just a poor design. I got out and ran it for another half hour last night without a glitch. Whatever noise Ott Machine used for "squeaking brakes" will make the hair on your neck stand up!!!

Just tryin' to make a funny, Jon. Borrowin' from Larry the Cable Guy.
Actually, I'm the same way. I have an analytical mind that sometimes gets taxed to hairpullin analyzin', like on an automotive electrical problem. It's why I was thinkin' Superglue, cause oil or grease attacks rubber, softens and stretches it. A good cleanin' with alcohol or brake cleaner inside the tubes and on the shafts would help it grab the shaft better. Truth be known, I didn't think of just wire tyin' 'em. To easy for the convoluted mind that Neil says I have.

You can tell that Iran is feeling a little beleaguered these days when there are reports that Tehran may be under attack from rodents!
That is what the official Islamic Republic News Agency reported this week, that police had, ahem, "arrested" 14 squirrels on charges of espionage.
The rodents were found near the Iranian border, allegedly equipped with eavesdropping devices, according to IRNA.
Mohammadi asked me if I knew where the squirrels were from, and I told him that I didn’t know. Then he came to his own conclusions. "I bet they were British squirrels, they are the most cunning," he replied.
Be careful, Pete!! The groundhogs may be next!!!!!!!
