Wow Turk ,Fifty-seven cars. I could only get my Williams Geep to pull forty-two before they de-railed on the curves. Looks like your trains going around an S curve. I would like to see this also.

Nice club you have there Turk.......... :wink: There is one not far from where I live here in Pa. This club is just east of me north of Phila. Would like to check it out sometime. Looks interesting.....................................

The railroad is the Big Boots and Western. It is located between Candler and Oklawaha, Fla. About 20 miles S.E. of Ocala. We have around 2 miles of track on the ground and plans for another 3 miles. The track has a maximum of 2% grades, and has a minimum of 65' radius curves. There are two large freight yards, and several passing sidings, one with a diamond. The track is fully signaled with 3 aspect signals. I think, we have 12 locomotive that are resident, and around 80 cars. There is a car barn that will hold about 50 cars. We have 5 steaming bays with a traverse table to service them. The track is on about 35 acres. We have two resident steamers, the rest are diesels.

I live on site in my RV, and have a Bill Conners beam engine. (vertical boiler, live steamer)

What's the deal with that F unit in the background? Is that bird crap over it? Hell, I'll clean 'her up if I could run her!

They tell me that is an E unit. It's ancient, and doesn't even have a motor in it any more. the guy that owns it says he'll get around to doing something with it some day. He won't sell it, either. :(
We do have fun. :D
If you can get into it with a group, it's really not much more expensive than the little models. the track turns out to be about the same cost per foot as G scale track. (Go figure) Just a lot more feet of it. I've got a couple of G scale locos that cost almost as much as my steamer. You can get a little electric loco for about $1400. the cars run about $500 and up(some of them, WAY UP).

That beam [ I think] engine must be more powerful than it appears. Three adults and three cars that are all larger than it is..

It's a Bill Conners Beam Engine. It is surprisingly powerfull for it's size. I've pulled 18 empty cars up a 2% grade with it. I've also pulled a little over a ton of ballast with it while we were laying track.

I'm in the process of building a Garrett with a Climax, geared, drive system. It will be about 10' long, and have a drawbar pull of around 800 lbs. It will be 2 1/2" scale with a ride "in" cab. It will probably take me a couple of years to finish.
