Hobo Jungle
Well, I pissed off the little old lady at Walmarts today!!
As I was about to head out the exit doors, the little old lady (LOL) waived the guy through ahead of me but flagged down my buggy demanding to see my store receipt. I asked her why I was stopped unlike the guy ahead of me. She said because my Son (who was riding in the buggy with the goods) had taken a toy out of the plastic shopping bag. So I proceeded to empty all the contents of my shopping bags into the buggy, handed her my receipts and told her to inventory. She started flapping her arms and mumbling evil things and then just waived me and the boy on through.

P&R Pete
Pete, that is a lovely thing. Might be the finest lantern I've ever seen photos of.
Anyone else trimming their tree? You should see Daisy trim a tree. 300+ ornaments, Christmas medley puffing from the speakers, oak in the wood stove, the season seems to be here in full glory.

Pete, I know what your handle is, but tell me again the road name of the P & R RR.
Tramp, my son and granddaughter put our tree up Dec. 1st. I am not permitted to put up a train under it. And I was building a new layout just for that purpose, but now, to hell with it.

P&R Pete
Mitch, The Philadelphia and Reading Railroad. Morphed, later, into just the Reading Railroad. My interest is that it was the Reading that bought out the Bloomsburg and Sullivan Railroad, a short line that ran through Orangeville down in the valley.
Send me your address, you hobo.
Jon, this one I got off eBay.
Most of my stuff, 90%, I get from a local retired-guy who prowls flea markets and antique shops all over eastern Pennsylvania. He used to work at my hospital, and I stop by his place every so often to see what new stuff he's found and to shoot the shit. He buys some stuff in awful shape, dirty, cruddy, rusted, and as he calls it, "works them up". He's a freakin' wizard at his craft. I paid him $50 to clean up this P&R lantern, and it was a bargain. He really shined 'er up. It IS a beautiful piece of history to look at, hold, own. Those globes with cast letters are the shit, man. I guess I got this 'thing' with old glass. They are what makes a lantern. But this guy's a funny guy, he doesn't like to talk much about how he finds things, or his cleaning methods. I think he counts on this for a good part of his retirement income, and is protecting himself. Fine with me. The visits are fascinating, both for some of the amazing stuff he finds, and the history lessons I get with every visit. If I had the money, I'd have 3 times the stuff I have, for all he's shown me. He has guys that stop by to look at his stuff when they're passing through from out of state. I get to worrying that I'm missing things. LOL

And can you imagine that Tramp is considering not running the trains through it this winter?
-Was it the Berk?
-Is it our new attack Cat?
-What can I do to inspire him to run them? Remind him why he does it!
HMMMMM,,,I know he was pretty pissed about the Berk.
I've not read any comments about the cat here so I couldn't tell his position there.
Now I have seen pictures of YOU here, perhaps you could use your lovelyness to sway him to a little railrod in the house?
It works with me with my wife!!!!
I'd say it may be the Berk thing,,,,

Get you a copper kettle;
Get you a copper coil.
Fill it with some good corn mash,
you'll never have to toil.
Just lay there by the Juniper,
When the stars are bright.
And watch them jugs a fillin'
In the pale moonlight.
Build you a great big fire;
Out of hickory, ash, or oak.
Don't use no green or rotten wood,
They'll catch you by the smoke.
Just lay there by the Juniper,
When the stars are bright.
And watch them jugs a fillin'
In the pale moonlight.
My pappy was a moonshiner;
His pappy, he was too.
And we ain't paid no whiskey tax,
since seventeen ninety two.
Just lay there by the Juniper;
When the stars are bright.
And watch them jugs a fillin',
In the pale moonlight.
If memory serves, written and sung by the Kingston Trio.
'Tis the Holiday Season.
