I actually think the unpainted brass looks better for display. Never thought I would say that.

One of the Hudsons has an appliance on the first pilot axle on the right , but on the unpainted one appears missing. Maybe a speedometer of sorts.

The CB&Q looks Northern looks hefty.

Totally agree on that one. Paint obscures the details, except in exceptionally weathered locomotive like Lee Turners. When I was in HO I never bought painted models, well when I was in HO not many came factory painted. But natural brass really shows off the detail of a brass model.

Thank you for pointing that out. Weathering brings out the details. Explains why I almost always like weathered locos as much as unpainted.

Well, I like model trains and any well detailed miniature and the more details the better. Not so much for runners, but if it's going to be for display or sitting on a rail siding details make the difference IMHO. But, we all enjoy different facets of the hobby.........mine is details.
