Excellent, Healey! I'm sure they'll be thrilled. Happy Thanksgiving too. Richard

I'm hopeful they'll be chuffed, Richard.

It's show-time in the kitchen today as tomorrow's menu is extensive, even if the crowd will be a bit smaller this year. We'll have my wife's 102 year-old aunt here with us, so it'll be good to get some time with her. Should be fun. Gonna try my hand at making a bienenstich (bee-sting cake)...could be a disaster, lol.

So before I get running around too much, hope all here have a great Thanksgiving!

Don't forget to save room for dessert...

Do not be anxious over anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication along with thanksgiving, let your petitions be made known to God; and the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus.

I have long admired brass rolling stock but declined to buy one because of the price.
Until I found this advertised on eBay:

The box arrived on Nov 22, 2024.

Inside the box was the prize.

I used a magnet to see if "looks like brass" is brass.
Image

Hmmm! It is steel on the sides, doors, top, and bottom frame piece but brass on the ends. The roof walk is a zinc alloy casting.
I am guessing on the brass parts because,
1) the magnet does not stick to them and
2) I built one of these in the 70's and the ends were made of brass.

The bottom is wood with steel frame.
Image

Inside, the sides are steel, but inside the ends, top, and bottom are wood.

Edit 1: Added some brass parts to the review.
Edit 2: I scrapped the paying on the end of the roof walk. It is white metal, probably Zamac, a zinc alloy.

It weighs 14.75 ounces (round up to 15 ounces.)

It is 10 inches long so according to NMRA RP-20.1 the car should weigh 5 ounces + 1 ounce per inch of car body length = 15 ounces. :D :D :D :D :D

So, how does it run?

Well, it seems to be my most free-rolling car on a straight track.
On switches, it derails at the frog because the wheels have such narrow, skinny flanges that the guard rail cannot protect them from the frog point.
On O-27 curves, it derails because the wheels hit the coupler draft gear preventing the trucks from rotating enough to negotiate the curve.

Speaking of the couplers, they might be N-scale couplers. I was shocked to see that such tiny couplers could couple to Lionel couplers.
