The Modelers Thread
Re: The Modelers Thread
Looks like a fun project. Was this originally from a kit, or total scratch-build?

I think it was a Gloor Craft kit PRR caboose. Been abused and missing the correct cupola......but it came with a pair of brass PSC PRR caboose trucks, so not all bad,
Now I need to make something of it that's useful.....so it might depart to a new home in April.

New ends getting installed; some roof work started at the ends.

Are you planning on putting a cupola back on this thing? If so, I'll be curious to see how it's done. If you use the one that you pictured earlier, you're gonna have to do a bit of trimming on the roof bit, it would seem.

Nope! Going a different route,
If you use the one that you pictured earlier,
In the parts bin where after acquiring sufficient mold will probably end up in one of the stuff to sell at Strasburg tubs

I had to shelf the sawmill for this tunnel liner to keep moving on the layout. I already built one of these so it’s going reasonably fast.

Interesting build; hard to appreciate size w/o some reference point.

1-2-3 blocks give you an idea. It’s about 5” wide x 8” high x 11” long.

Thought it was something along those lines, but that seemed too high so I thought I was off or misreading the photos.

Looks good, much like the interior of the Western Maryland's Stick Pile Tunnel on its Cumberland Extension:

Legend has it that the tunnel got its name when an itinerant's body was found inside concealed under a pile of sticks. The mythology has it haunted to this day by the spirit of the dead guy. I'm not a big believer in the paranormal, but damn if that doesn't look like a guy heading inside in this HAER photo.

Yea that’s creepy. I see some Timbers missing, I wonder what’s with that? I guess people will steal anything.

Some guy needed posts for his multi-level deck? That area is pretty desolate, so easy enough to swipe stuff. They have the tunnel entrances closed now; some rare bat species took up residence and they don’t want folks going in there disturbing them.
