They can tell our government what needs to be accomplished and but in place. Then it can be voted on.

That would depend on what existing powers were granted the EPA by Congress. If every decision/recommendation by every Dept of the Govt. is to be run past Congress, absolutely nothing will get done.

Probably not enforceable.....and is that even a real problem? Does seem however like something the PA legislature would waste time and resources doing.

Yes, liberal. Way, way over-privileged and grateful.
Hoping to keep my Medicare - don’t need my Social Security.
I have lived in the best place on earth. Hope your kids can say the same thing in fifty years. I won’t be here to care.

Wow Bob. You are what the progressive liberals would call a borderline "WHITE SUPREMACIST"

I wasn't quit as privileged as you were. After I graduated from Hawthorne High School. I started at El Camino Jr collage as a biology science major with the goal of being a marine biologist. But then my dad had his first heart attack and was limited for working and was going to retire and move to Hemet. That put me working full time and that didn't work for me going to school full time. I gave up after 3 years at El Camino and signed up for the school of HARD KNOCKS.

When I was going to high school I would be out for 1 to 2 week every February. With what the doctors said was bronchopneumonia but that is not what it was. Four years later I was working at a auto supply store and after I came back from lunch and was waiting on a customer I started coughing. By the time I stopped I had blood all over me and the counter. Went to the hospital and they did a bronchoscopy on me and said I had valley fever with a cocci cavity in my left lung.

Here is the best part. They said there was nothing they could do for me. no medicine no cure and they gave me a 50/50 chance to survive. They said I would get over it on my own or it would kill me. Two years later I get my draft notice. I go down to LA for the induction. They sent me home and reclassified me 1Y. They didn't want to have to deal with a person that had a medical condition that was not curable. Well I guess that saved me from getting killed in Vietnam.

I"M still here. It was about eight years later when my own immune system kicked into high gear and defeated the valley fever. They say I am immune to it and will never get it again.

Now growing up and living in Southern California for 30 years was fabulous. Best of times we called it living in the fast lane. Surfing beach parties, fast cars, California girls. What more could a young man desire.... Married a Calif girl and the kids were born there. I have no regrets about living there.

We have some stupid things here in PA. Not many counties have Automobiles emissions testing. Pittsburgh and surrounding counties along with Philly and surrounding counties. That leaves 40 plus counties that don’t need to test for clean running cars. I tell people “ i would push for state wide testing “

VA has emissions testing every 2 years. Some of those other counties might have next to nobody living in them. But a little surprised it's not uniform since emissions testing is a money maker.

Clean air starts with every car. From the birth of emissions testing we have had both parties in charge. Regulations and methods of testing gave changed twice. Most shops have spent $50,000 on equipment. I think it’s unfair to require only half the state to test. It also shows both parties are not sincere about air quality.

Or that they are deadlocked in this was the only compromise that they agree on.....and then there's all the rural farm equipment in those central counties - going to test all that, too? Going to tell the Amish that they need to get those motors they have mounted on the bailers checked out?

This reminds me of how the state forced a new septic system at my place. Putting rules in place where the cows, pigs, goats, etc. outnumber people by at least an order of magnitude where they spray liquefied manure on the fields.....but we need expensive septic systems......since we need to be like downtown in one of the cities. The hypocrisy is very real, but it makes money for the township, county and state.....and money is what really talks.

Anybody want to toss the diesel engine (tractor trailers) into the equation? As best I recall, no emission testing done on Diesels.

PS: What does emissions have to do with crooked Dumocrats?

Tractor trailers have emissions test. NJ does random roadside stops. They check for particulates coming from your tailpipe. They also have catalytic converters on new diesel equipment. All new Diesel engines shut off after idling for 5 minutes. Major railroads have added small cubic inch motors to run locomotive safety equipment during down time. This keeps a prime moves engine from idling. Saving fuel cost and emissions.

Good point. But I think they do at those inspection & weighing stations along highways.

Wow, now there's a loaded question      Emissions and politicians of every party; way too many jokes at that intersection. But I think that it applies to Dems and Pubes both - crooked politician used to be considered redundant.

The major source of air pollution in the USA remains vehicle exhausts, although coal fired plants are still a factor. This stuff kills people and causes enormous harm, but is vastly better than the situation in the 1970s and before. Probably one reason deaths from heart attack and stroke are down by 80% or so from their peak in the 1950s-1960s.

I wouldn't have the audacity to argue that, but Democrats was part of the topic title, so I went with the flow.

How many coal fired plants are still in operation? I thought most had moved to natural gas simply based on economics.

List of coal-fired power stations in the United States
This is a list of the 232 operational coal-fired power stations in the United States.

Coal generated 23% of United States electricity in 2021,[1] an amount of electricity similar to that from renewable energy or nuclear power[2][3] but about half of the amount generated by natural gas plants. Coal was 19% of generating capacity.[4]

Globally, there are still more than 2,400 coal-fired power plants operating in 79 countries, making a total of nearly 2,100 GW of capacity.

232 coal fired energy plants. some in PA are burning junk coal from dump sites. There was a news story about this a few weeks ago. They take coal dust and dirt from waste sites and burn it. people are at odds over it being a good or bad thing.

Robert, do you know what a farce PA emission testing is? Some counties have only a fuel cap test. The chances are that if you have no CEL for an evaporative emissions failure, (the CEL will be on), it's going to pass. It's a money maker for the test facility and Penn Dot. $45.00 please. Other counties are just a module scan. With monitors run and no CEL, it passes. $50+ please.
The Philly region does require a dyno test. Don't know what that would cost but it cannot be cheap. For the rest of the state, if your 1996 or new vehicle does not have a check engine light on and all the monitors have run, it passes the emission test. $50 please. If the light truck weighs between 8501 and 9000 GVW, it must have a two speed idle tailpipe test, even though it has the exact same emissions equipment that a half ton or 3/4 ton below 8501 GVW. Huge rip off. Most all of the old machines cannot be repaired any more, so the stations that still have a working machine can charge the moon, and they do. If the trucks' GVW is 9000 lbs. and over, no emission test at all. The entire emissions program in Pa. was conjured up to appease the environmentalists. Even back in the early '90s, the cars were clean enough that we had to pack rags around the sniffers in the tailpipes 'cause the machine thought you were trying to F**K it over. It couldn't get a good enough sniff. They should scrap the entire program. (Besides, they make us emission testers re-certify every two years though nothing in the program changes, and rip us off for $90 bucks to register and God knows what for the 1 night testing class. The dealer pays for that). Did I mention that they should scrap the whole program. Every car sold in PA. has California Emissions on it. What?! Not good enough for the Pols? Did I mention they should scrap the entire program?
If you agree with the Progressives, it's freedom of speech. If you disagree, it's hate speech. There are no alternatives.
