Re: Whatzit?
A daddy spider carrying his own progeny eggs?
Re: Whatzit?
Phoretic mites

Once I built a railroad, I made it run,
Made it race against time.
Once I built a railroad, now it's done --
Brother, can you spare a dime?

Yes, they are phoretic mites.
Being unable to fly, mites need some other means of dispersal. On a small scale, walking is used to access other suitable locations in the immediate vicinity. Another strategy is phoresy; the mite, often equipped with suitable claspers or suckers, grips onto an insect or other animal, and gets transported to another place. These mites have no malicious intentions. A phoretic mite is just a hitch-hiker and does not feed during the time it is carried by its temporary host, which means, the mites use their hosts exclusively for transport.

Re: Whatzit?
Interesting - fairly light looking timbers for that large a barn. Down the road from you?

Different barn, shows tobacco being dried.

The tobacco industry in the USA is declining. In 2002, there were roughly 80,000 active tobacco farmers. By 2015 there were 4,268. Tobacco farming has moved to China. In 2020. China was the biggest tobacco producer in the world.
