Interesting; all you have to do is state basic fundamentals on HW & SW development and support............

Yeah, 9 years at the Software Engineering Institute spent on software development process and software risk management, followed by 20 years successful delivery of multi-million dollar projects on time and budget. What do I know about it, anyway?

I think I understand. After 50 years of teaching music I have never met a young teacher who could learn anything from me or possibly knew less.

I very, very, very rarely visit NK anymore so I was startled by the vitriol. It was more like you had spit on the Pope's shoes?

I guess we will never know the full details of the agreement reached between the two parties but I suspect that this is not the case of someone riding in to "save" MTH and "spare" DCS from the wastebasket of toy train purgatory. If Atlas had bought everything (ALL of the tooling) I am pretty sure that they would have said so in plain english. That leaves the bulk of O-Gauge as well as Standard Gauge. I am slightly surprised that no one in the EU tired to buy the European models? I know "O" isn't that popular but it's not without some followers.

MTH is the modern version of the Holy Roman Empire. Doomed to being dismantled and replaced by the "future." People are happily riding their canoes over Niagara Falls celebrating how fast they are moving. It's so obvious what is happening except to those who are unfailingly optimistic that these events are their dreams come true. The outcome is going to be pretty gruesome and disappointing to the true believers. Atlas is not a cargo cult or the second coming of MTH, not by a long shot.

I was somewhat surprised by the zealots total inability to entertain even the possibility that DCS had some reliability issues (or had ever had them). But you can't really argue with a rabid dog, can you?

As you say, Atlas was selective in their acquisition of MTH tooling and assets. They are very clearly not venturing into steam, the European niche, Gauge 1, or the Standard/Tin plate stuff. My guess is that the set of re-issued MTH locomotives will be quite small and very carefully selected so as not to harm the existing Atlas major product lines.

Interesting and unfortunately accurate analogy, I fear.

Atlas' licensing of DCS has prolonged its existence, but for how long? That is the $64,000 question.

I understand a number of Railking accessories were acquired, but I am wondering about the buildings. Does anyone know?

By the way, is anyone else astounded at the last minute issues, "new" models, and custom runs coming out of MTH? Mr. Muffin, Trainland/world, and Mario's Trains are all "finding"  stuff to sell.

a place called ' Cabin fever auctions' in Pennsylvania. Ran large lots of MTH stuff. Last month they had a 2 maybe 3 day auction. Most of the stuff was still in shipping cartons. they even had an MTH traveling layout.

Atlas announcement of first "Atlas Does MTH" line of trains. Not exactly jumping in two feet at a time :).

https://shop.atlasrr.com/b-atlas-reveal ... 793662ab52

Makes sense to take it slow and small in all seriousness.

Interesting note, they very pointedly announced the steam locomotive to pull these cars is being done by MTH? I thought they (MTH) was shutting down? In May 2021? Yet the engine will delivered in September 2021? Weird.

Sheesh, talk about obscure.

I think MTH is going to only do special runs from now on. Maybe they'll have more departure tours than The Who.

I think I mentioned sometime ago that there was a possibility that MTH was looking for reaction and finding a way to go on.
Have someone sell it for them using the MTH name.

I don't know. Shutting down is supposed to be "shutting down" as in done, kaput, finite, over, I'm out of here.....

But wait, theres more. Just pay extra shipping and handling!!!! Buy one get the next one half off!!!

This sounds less and less like a retirement and more like a retread scam!
