I never heard of this before.
Critical Race Theory
https://news.yahoo.com/critical-race-th ... 39894.html
A new orthodoxy has taken over our educational institutions with frightening speed. People who likely never heard the phrase “critical race theory” (CRT) before this summer are now getting emails from their children’s schools about “Decentering Whiteness at Home.” They are discovering that their children’s elementary-school teacher has read them “a book about whiteness” that teaches them how much “color matters” and encourages them to confront “the painful truth” about their “own family” — i.e., that they are being raised by racists. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
This is a dangerous and divisive ideology, one that assigns moral value to people on the basis of their skin color. It is inconceivable that anyone could look back at human history and not see that singling out a particular racial or ethnic group as the cause of all societal problems can quickly lead us to a very bad place.
It is understandable, therefore, that the ascendancy of CRT in our educational institutions is deeply frightening to so many people. People feel like their children are being indoctrinated. In many cases, they are right. This ideology is not simply being presented as one way of looking at the world. It is being taught as the Truth with a capital ‘T,’ and you will be cast into outer darkness or punished for questioning it. Just ask David Flynn, the father of two children in the Dedham, Mass., public schools who was fired from his position as head football coach there after raising concerns about changes to his seventh-grade daughter’s history curriculum. (Flynn is now suing the school district.)
We need to fight the rise of this toxic and destructive orthodoxy if we want America to be a place where, as Martin Luther King said, our children are judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin. But we have to fight it in the right way, without compromising the very freedoms we seek to preserve.

I commend this teacher for speaking out. We need more like her.

Re: (CRT)
You know I thought it was a joke when I got an email from an acquaintance titled BLW. Opening it, the BLW stood for "be less white" and gave examples of how to be that, which again, I took as a joke. But, if this teacher is telling the truth and CRT is real and that attitude is being taught to our children, we are treading on very dangerous ground.

Well it is real and it is being taught. Now you know why your kids love you when they go off to school and they hate you when they get out. It’s even being taught in certain work places to my knowledge. Yep, your whiteness allowed you to have trains that a person of color couldn’t have. You should give your trains to the next person of color you meet AND apologize for being so white.

(The ire, here, is not directed at you gregj; i understand you are being facetious)
I say, very, very UNapologetically, apologize for what?
For paying attention and not ever being disruptive in classrooms?
....for having a job my entire life , since I was twelve , so I could EARN my way,
....never ever expecting a handout, nor ever having my hand out for one?
...for paying for everything I have ever had, some of which I have possessed for nearly a lifetime ?
For helping others?
For valuing others?
For being charitable (now, there's a concept ) ?
For always giving value to being a positive element in a group (trying, at least.)
Let somebody of the whining, self-entitled Gimme Ilk match that lifetime record, and I will consider wishing them enjoyment as they EARN the money to BUY their first train, and help them set it up; even make a little village to keep the train company.

So what’s your point? Are you saying it isn’t being taught?

Re: (CRT)
I ran smack into part of this. my kid exploded and went ape sheet online. 7 years old and she sees it or feels it. She made a comment during on of her classes. She made a comment about skin color and people sucking. Naming some kids from her class. She went on to say. Learn to spell. It's not Baffroom or boof. It's a TH sound and it is spelled with a TH. She typed all this into a chat window. This window pops up on everybody's screen. " She then questioned her teacher why have we only studied the accomplishments of black people? I want to learn about something white girls have invented. She said to her teacher. " do you know we have 3 Asian kids in this class? Lets learn about kites."
My phone rang on the hook for about 2 hours as every counselor from the school called me. Our brick and mortar school sent someone out also. To see if there was a household problem. My wife set them all in straight. My child's teacher will be teaching about Marie Curie this week along with Lanying Lin
My wife told them. " she was from eastern Europe and well aware of a racist society." She explained to one counselor. " her family lost homes and businesses during Hitler's reign." She told the head of the school " Don't try to make up for years of inequality by over doing things." She went on to say." The kid reads and sees everything. Everywhere she goes BLM. What about little white girls? You want people to grow up fair? teach fair.
Oh help me she is only 7.

My sister in law is married to an African American man. They have 4 kids. We all get along great, no real drama for the most part. However she use to send my daughters black baby dolls. I always wondered why she didn’t send them Indian dolls or Asian dolls, etc.
Hard to remove the speck from your brothers eye when you have one in your own eye. I think some of the biggest racists literally don’t even recognize they’re racist.

While I admit I don’t fully know what it means. I believe it’s like an over sensitivity to social and racial issues. Maybe someone else can elaborate. An example of that happened in our home last week. I’m not woke by any stretch but because we are constantly reminded how racist we are, meaning white people, I found myself getting sucked into it for a moment.
My wife has chickens that lay different colored eggs. She usually packs them mixed in a dozen. Last week she had all white eggs in one dozen because we simply had more white eggs. I thought, hmm... you can’t have that, to many white eggs together, that could upset the brown or green eggs.

Article is from the National Review -- it is right at the top of the page, above the title.
They published stuff written by Jeffrey Epstein's publicist.gregj410 wrote:So what’s your point?

I think the article is political tripe written by people who know have never worked in public education. Just look at what it links to -- an article about what a teacher is teaching in a private school, an article about a Judicial Watch lawsuit, a Reason article, an article attacking the 1619 Project, etc.... it's all political, partisan rhetoric.
