Fuel Nozzle Color Codes
Re: Fuel Nozzle Color Codes
So he is willing to trade performance for fuel economy? Flex Fuel vehicles can automatically adjust for E-85 fuel but do so to max out MPG. If you max for performance you can take up to 27% hit on mpg.
BOT, since about 1 in 12 Americans suffers from some form of color blindness why would anyone "color code" fuel station pumps?

Yes he is happy to trade. It’s a supercharged car.

Why even bother; they are labeled and most drivers can read.
The sufferings we endure in this life make possible all the happy crimes and pleasant abominations we shall commit in the next….aren’t you eager to collect?

Yes, the word. You're confusing reading with following directions.
I did use the word "most". Maybe the words "a few" is more accurate.
English and reading comprehension of the same does seem to be falling out of fashion.

What makes you think they are even reading the signs or anything else.
I had to go out and run some errands today and I was out between 2:30-4PM. All on surface streets, lots of lights and stop signs. They did pay attention to the red lights but were so busing f'ing around on their phones they didn't move when the light changed to green. This wasn't just kids, a lot of "adults" and way to many seniors that probably shouldn't be driving let alone trying to drive and manipulate a smart phone at the same time. One almost drifted into my right turn lane, not because they were even thinking of turning right, they were just focusing on the phone.

Philadelphia no longer enforces stop sign violations. It's only enforced if property damage occurs or bodily harm.

Not entirely true.
Unfortunately, there is no law which allows for safely rolling through a stop sign, so in the event that you are caught committing this act, you will receive a fine for this violation.

But there is an exception... The Philadelphia Rolling Right Turn Exception.

can you find a date for that article ? Back in November Philly change to a kinder more gentle police force. No more tickets handed out for stop sign violations.

Any other crazy traffic laws in Philly? I just checked Google Earth and it looks like there are alternatives to going into town (aka I can drive around it). I think I've seen enough of the city from previous visits that I can forgo future visits.

Re: Fuel Nozzle Color Codes
Back to fuel/gasoline.
When I was last in Colorado, late 20th century, gasoline octane ratings seemed to be 3 to 5 points lower than in Georgia and the states in between.
I did not notice if e-85 was involved. The "peppiness" of driving response did seem to be less.
Why would Colorado have lower octane ratings?

Why would Colorado have lower octane ratings?
Don't know BUT Utah had different settings than most of the other states that we drove through. We did hit one state with four or five octanes (that seems nuts to me). In Utah mid level was 87 and economy was actually 85. Utah and Colorado (and probably some other states) have to make an altitude adjustment. They have to lower it because the air is less dense and the problems that higher octane is supposed to deal with are less of an issue because of the lower pressure.
In Michigan, Economy is 87, mid is 89, and Premium is 92/93.

That's what we have here. The only station that has E85 is 40 miles from me. They also have E15
Re: Fuel Nozzle Color Codes
there's 2 ways to measure octane. Both give a different number for the same product. Colorado also has a higher elevation. Less oxygen up there. this may require a different type of gasoline if your car is not setup to be in Colorado.
