I once read somewhere or maybe people were having a pissing contest on OGR. Screen wire tunnels mess up you command signal . Dc dcs bluetooth i don't maybe i was dreaming or they were trying to say their tunnel was longer than the next guy's. It's all kind of Blah blah blah if your running post war. I like carved pink foam for tunnels. It works better than blue foam.

An interesting point (potential RF issues), but will have no impact here. This thing will likely only ever be used with prewar tinplate or clockwork trains. Even on the basement layout, we only run conventional.

Greg, one question re: your tunnel - how are you going to retrieve derailments from inside? Do you have access from underneath? Looks like the scenery is flush to the back wall.

Not much progress this week as attentions/intentions were diverted elsewhere. Thinking I was going to need a bit of curve in the grade, I built the road-foundation out of layers of corrugated and glued that in place. I had to add a bit more elevation at the top-end because I failed to consider the thickness of the "plateau" at the top, plus I needed a bit more glue surface for the terminus section that will be a bit wider. I probably could have just cut it from a couple pieces of one-by as I decided I didn't really need as much curviness as I thought I might (the road might be curved, but the support won't need to be).



I then screwed the "plateau" on (it may be starting to get a bit obvious where I'm heading with this thing). It was a bit out of plumb between the plateau and the tops of the supports, so I was worried that drawing it down tight might introduce a bit of warp to the structure. It doesn't appear to have done that, or if so, it's minimal.

Next, I'll get the road/cart-path in place and the portal masonry glued in, then it'll be ready for scenic...ugh.

Once I got started up on it again about 2 years ago around this time of the year, I ripped through more than half my layout to complete it - just got into a groove, used up almost all of the laid in supplies, bought a bit more, and just got'r done!

No difference of any significance. Ok, maybe gender...

I used scrap high density blue foam that was leftover from making Cerrubend castings used to attenuate radiation beams. One man's trash is another man's layout scenery supplies,
