Things are looking up for Minneapolis. One man dead, 11 people wounded in Minneapolis shooting and no white police officers involved.
https://news.yahoo.com/one-man-dead-11- ... 07696.html

This is Ilhan Omar's district that she represents in the US congress. She also want's to eliminate the police in Minneapolis.

She says she is a lot more comfortable living there now that it looks like her home town of Mogadishu Somali where she was born.

Minneapolis City Council unanimously votes on plan to dismantle police department in wake of anti-brutality protests
https://www.foxnews.com/us/minneapolis- ... loyd-death

Minneapolis City Council members voted unanimously to amend the city's charter Friday to remove the mandate for a police department-- the first step toward disbanding it in the wake of George Floyd's death.

The amendment proposes the city replace the police department with a Department of Community Safety and Violence Prevention, “which will have responsibility for public safety services prioritizing a holistic, public health-oriented approach,” a draft of the amendment said.

The proposal adds that the director of the new agency would have “non-law-enforcement experience in community safety services, including but not limited to public health and/or restorative justice approaches.” It also suggests setting up a division of licensed peace officers, who would answer to the department's director.

Minneapolis neighborhood that vowed not to call police in wake of Floyd death is already being tested by 300-strong homeless encampment
https://www.foxnews.com/us/minneapolis- ... orge-floyd

A progressive Minneapolis neighborhood that pledged not to call the police in the wake of the death of George Floyd is now dealing with a 300-strong homeless encampment in a local park, according to reports.

Traffic has reportedly increased in the neighborhood around Powderhorn Park, as drug dealers seek to meet their clientele displaced during the civil unrest, rioting and looting following Floyd’s death at the end of May. At least one person overdosed inside the park and was brought out by an ambulance. Prostitution has also been reported in the area.

Residents though have agreed to “check their privilege” and “protect people of color” by not involving law enforcement to report instances of property damage, according to the New York Times.

You just have to give that Minneapolis city council credit for coming up with some interesting theories.

Minneapolis City Council Declares Racism a ‘Public Health Emergency’
https://news.yahoo.com/minneapolis-city ... 19713.html

The council approved a resolution that states the city of Minneapolis will recognize “the severe impact of racism on the well-being of residents and city overall and allocate funding, staff, and additional resources to actively engage in racial equity in order to name, reverse, and repair the harm done” to black, Indigenous and people of color.

Minneapolis has some of the “starkest racial inequities in the country,” the resolution says, including in the areas of poverty, home ownership, and obtaining a high school diploma.

So the democrats that have controlled Minneapolis for over 30 years have now become "WOKE"
And it's not their fault they failed the community, it was RACISM......

But what I would like to now is how does a doctor (health care Worker) treat patients with racism. Can they come up with a vaccine for it.?

The entire world suffers from prejudice and racism against all colors, creeds, ethnicity's, sexes and way more. People in India judge each other by how light or dark their skin is, as people of color. Middle East and many Asian countries have all kinds of prejudices against women, color, religion and more. Name a country and it will be the same.

Prejudices/racism abounds for all kinds of reasons worldwide and honestly I don't see how it will every be eliminated. If we were all the same color or religion or sex or wealth or ??, people would still find something to be prejudice about.

That is who human beings are, I'm sad to say. We need to learn to live together, but since we haven't done it since the beginning of mankind, good luck with that.

"So the democrats that have controlled Minneapolis for over 30 years"

Could THAT be the problem?

Well, the Democrats did start the Civil War to defend slavery. So let's not vote for them 160 years later. Let's vote for the racist, corrupt, slime ball who the Republicans loyally follow as he leads us into perdition.

Well, maybe, but maybe that's who they are taught to be.

While I would love to blame the democrats I actually blame the community. It doesn't matter if the elected officials are democrats or republicans. When your community has had the same problems for many years and you continue to vote in the same type of incompetent people as your representatives. You get what you vote for.

Trying to elect a republican for this district would be futile. Invalid viewpoints on how to solve the problem. Won't work. The people have been brainwashed to believe that only democrats can solve their problems..

And now this community has a bigger problem since the riot, looting and burning down of businesses, They have to rebuild. They made their own poverty worse than what it was before.

If doing away with the police department solves their problem then that is what the need to do.

But I don't see how shifting the narrative to calling this a Public Health Emergency. solves anything....

Definitely for as long as history has been recorded. But, regardless if taught or not, it has been so ingrained it will be hard to change human behavior.

If no effort is made, true. However, we're seeing a very real effort to reinforce the negative and to teach, promote, and present that as acceptable.

We could get into Nature/Nurture debate........

No debate from me....I don't know enough. This is so huge it boggles the mind, but simple answers/solutions is a good start. I just don't know how long people will pay attention, behave and continue to progress towards solutions for all problems. I believe if the answer isn't easy (and its not) then the general population won't embrace it....hell we can't even get them to wear masks to protect their own lives. I just don't give people the credit you must.

Oh, I don''t give them a lot of credit; never underestimate the stupidity of humans -- the human race has been close to extinction for a good while now. Maybe a few pandemics and some wake up calls will get it to start paying attention to what matters..........or not.
