Should be an upper age limit to the office - 200+ years ago no one lived that long and so it was not given any thought. We've had too many old pharts for way too many years that are totally out of touch with the people and only in touch with people stuffing their pockets with our money.

I agree. You wouldn't want me to be in an important office and I have not had a heart attack, only problems walking, talking, seeing and remembering.
If Sanders is 80 he will be my age at the end of a term.

I am mostly conservative in my political views and admit it. It seems to me that I am not among friends on MTJ when politics are involved.
I will refrain from taking part in political discussions in the future partly because I do not like the implications that people that think like me,
or according to some don't think, are stupid. I admit to being politically naive. Maybe since I do not read all the internet stuff I am not well
informed but I do know what I like and don't like. I think the derogatory comments made about the leader of our country over the past several
decades has hurt us and led other countries to believe that it is possible for outsiders to have a great influence on our country. I have never
agreed with all decisions made by our political leaders but I will always support the way our government works.
IMHO nothing said on a model train forum will change anything except that model train forum. Therefore I will not take part in political
discussions on MTJ or other forums in the future. I will, if possible, continue to read what little non political information is on MTJ.

Fully understand your position Roger. Makes sense. That said, I don't think you are in the minority. Most of the posts seem to be from folks who are pretty conservative in their views. Not that there's anything wrong with that, to quote Seinfeld.

I don't think the lack of respect for the President during the last few decades have played any role in the Russian (and Chinese, and God knows who else) desire to interfere with our elections. That's just totalitarian regimes who are largely a failure in the case of the Russians looking out for their own political and economic interest. The Russian regime is largely a failure politically and certainly economically and Putin wants to create dissension and fear amongst the Western democracies since he cannot compete in any other way. The Chinese know that cheating can help their economy since our social system produces more scientific and technical innovation than their authoritarian social system can produce in its current form. We don't have to make America great again. In technical, medical and scientific terms, we've never stopped being great. Freedom and some resources go a long way, which is why one hopes the Congress ignores the current administration's efforts to cut back funding of our scientific and technical enterprises at NIH, NSF, etc. They are, regrettably, ignorant fools with poor judgment and understanding of science and technical issues.

I thought everyone here wanted to talk about toy trains, I guess not.

Russia..... The only thing Russia has going for them is their oil & gas reserves. The did not embrace capitalism like China did. If they had they might have become the manufacturing capital of the world and not China.

They other day Sanders said he was briefed a month ago by our intelligence that Russia was interfering in our elections to support him in the election. Why would they do that ?

How Sen.Sanders voted on Russia sanctions:
2012 Magnitsky Act - nay
2014 Russia Sanctions - nay
2017 Russia Sanctions - nay
2019 Russia Sanctions - did not vote

After the 2016 election it was learned that Russians posed as Americans and sponsored rally’s for Trump & Hilary Clinton in the same city on the same weekend. This is just what they do and it has nothing to do with Clinton or Trump, they had no idea.

Well sanders did spend his Honeymoon in Russia, who goes to Russia for their honeymoon.

Sanders is a sponsor of the Green New Deal to eliminate the use of oil and gas in the US.

Russia and China love that. Russia will be able to sell all the oil & gas to the world and China will sell us all the wind turbines and solar panels that they can manufacture while continuing to use coal and oil to pollute the environment.

I'm concerned about Mr. Sanders' health. He seems permanently stooped-over, and then there was that heart episode. He has got to be pushing himself to the max, and beyond, campaigning. He looks frail, to me, or at least, a bit wobbly.

If he were to get elected, I am doubtful he would make it through the first several months.

His party - and the American people - should look very carefully at whom they would elect as his Vice-pres.

I surely hope I am wrong.

Didja ever watch Sanders makin' a speech. I swear, if you tied his hands behind his back, he wouldn't be able to speak at all. Watch him, even in a news short, he's punchin' the air with that right hand.
If you agree with the Progressives, it's freedom of speech. If you disagree, it's hate speech. There are no alternatives.

Light the fire, put the feet up, and read a good book.

It occurred to me today. We are fortunate Mr. Bloomberg is running for President. Frankly. He is now the one I am taking the most seriously and now watching the closest. I think he can do some good. He's certainly no fool.

That was nice to read, Rufus.
Yes, he certainly is a person with accomplishments , and being a self-made multi-billionaire is proof he knows how to work exceptionally well with a team, motivating them, and leading them to the goal(s) of producing results . And leading
NYC is no small skill-set either, is it.

How many can claim such a productive record?

Many many people would never vote for a homosexual.
