Rivet Counters Don’t Look!
I’m not sure if an E-44 body could fit on an 89 foot flatcar. Heck, I’m not even sure if an 89’ flatcar is a thing either. But I love this project as it sums up everything about Penn Central to me.

Appropriate end for anything Penn Central

Agreed. They took two iconic liveries (Lightning Stripes and Keystone) and came up with a total disaster.

Cool project John, what did you do with the chassis? or did you just score the carbody? was it already "wormed up" when you got it?
We need details man!
BTW, to further "rivet count" two of these got one of their two pantographs scalped when they got demoted to freight (getting this scheme after the Park Ave Tunnel emolation that got them banished from the MTA ) and if this is on it's way to Naporano or the Luria Brothers post mortem they would have pulled the roof gear off beforehand to re-use. Sorry, can't help it.

Pete, the project was initially started by a friend who lost interest in it, and then put it on eBay. When I told him I liked it he took it off eBay and sent it to me. I’m in the process of 2 railing it and finding some Penn flatcar decals.
It’s just a fun rainy day piece to work on.

According to my calibrated instruments, that is 88.5 degrees. Better check your instruments.

They're all 90 degrees but then I live in a non-Euclidean space.

The other stuff I could take. The 89 degree angle has me reaching for the meds.
Over the years I realized my house was built with 87-89 degree angles as the de facto standard.
