3500. No poop. I think the absolute best one out there is 1/10 of that. I know, Martin will tell me it's worth 3500. But you know, it's rare, vintage, antique, hand built and heavy. All the key verbiage.

Again, you prove you know me not at all. It's worth nothing to me. At least it's not covered in dust and dirt, and corrosion & gunk like 1/2 the stuff that gets posted here.

Personally, I'd dump it as fast as possible to get it out of my shop and off the floor from gathering dust where I'd be tripping over it; it's only worth what I could sell if for in the next 24 hours.

Hello all ..John Webster ..nice Atlantic ... looks like an early PRR E2 ... unknown builder ..with castings it openings up the possibility of Alexander , Crovan .. one would have to match castings with bit offered by manufacturers. The early field was wide open with small manufactures offering parts ...and very little documentation to catalog it .
Here is a slightly later PRR E2 I accredit to Paul Egolf ...based on his patented drive system ...found on this engine .
This engine began life as outside third rail ..misguided prior owner changed it to center 3rd ..fortunately he retained the outer sweeps ..so one day it will be sweeping the outside 3rd again .

Interesting Carey, that E2 is antique, but that is one primordial looking drive, reminds me of some the really old Icken's etc.
mid-nineteen thirties? It's nice you'll be able to restore it back with its the outside wipers.

Hello all here is a copy of Paul Egolf's 1926 patent drive ....

yes Icken did do double gear reduction also ...if you can only take one engine to the deserted island (with electricity to run trains) ..chose Icken

patent shows center rail pickup which was the norm, even for the scale boys till about 1929 ..layout photo appears to have Egolf track ... 20's early 30's ...note ribbon type center rail ...super O track long before it was super

I find it hard to believe this gear set is patentable. We're talking one straight bevel gear set, and one spur gear set. At least, it should easily backdrive.

I don't think they're speakers either. If I'm understanding Casey's post, the photo was taken around 1929, while the first US radio stations were licensed in 1920. I don't think a layout room would have had its own wall mounted speakers back then.

In 1926 for a specific application citing advantages over current technology - not only quite possible, but the patent was issued.

What about a PA system of some kind?
What about a heater or fan of some kind?
