The Marx Bros. ?

Are you kidding me? The Marx Bros. ? Heresy! Sacrilege!

I did kind of enjoy "Heckle & Jeckle". What happened to them , could we say, officially ?

Never really cared for them but then never really saw a lot of them either.

"Daffy Duck" used to make me howl in enjoyment, mostly because when being hotly pursued , he would turn around and kiss the pursuer on the face, then say, "Wha-hooo-Wha- hoooo!!!"

Warner cartoons......hard to beat them.

I often thought this might have made a good TV series.

ME-TV was re-running that, up until recently. There's a new TV Swamp Thing in production now.

Nah. He was more of a good guy.

Pop-TV, on basic cable, is running House marathons. Good entertainment, for thinking sorts. You can also watch it for free, on NBC.com. Here's the pilot:

On NOVA this week, is Building the Great Cathedrals. It's about their engineering, the making of the stained glass, etc. It's on PBS. Check your local listings.

I saw some of the program no power tools. They had clever hoists to get these heavy stones way up high. boggles the mind. And to form all those stones. How did the figure out what they were doing? A few did collapse.

Another PBS show is Breakthrough: The Ideas that Changed the World. The current episode is about the history of robots. Quite interesting.

Last night, I caught four episodes of 10 That Changed America on PBS: Buildings, Homes, Towns, and Streets. There are a lot of top ten shows all over basic cable, none of which that I have seen, would I recommend. I strongly recommend these four episodes of this series. Given the complementary subjects, it was a fine mini-marathon.

And to form all those stones.

People had skills. We have keyboards and opinions now.

I was fortunate to be taught how to work some basic stone cutting such that I could "cut" by hand all of the slate that I used for walkways and steps at my home. The neighbors were both mystified and amazed that something like this could even be done and that I was doing it. We're losing our abilities to perform basic physical tasks.

I don't know if what you did crafting that walkway and steps was simply basic, as you put it, nor simply "physical". It seems to have required a whole lot of self-discipline (a skill) and focus (a skill) and Patience (a virtue) and a willingness to learn and possibly make mistakes. Working with ones hands can be very satisfying, especially for folks who spend a lot of their energies and time doing intellectual tasks.

Your making that slate walkway has probably become part of local lore.
