Humans have been encroaching on other species territory for centuries and it will continue as the population of humans continues to increase. 7 billion now and projected to be 10 billion by 2060. How long can humans survive at this rate :?:

I'm pretty sure that some would deny that has happened and that some would also not care at all.

There are a lot of people that very adamantly deny reality and proven factual science every day.

Now now. Let's not bring religion into this!

We have folks that deny the moon landing, that the Earth in round, that the Holocaust happened, that some of the school shootings happened..... It's just a coincidence that they overlap with folks that think The Flintstones was a reality show.....

Has there never been any proven factual science that was changed because later factual science proved it wrong :?:

Correct. If any other species behaved as we have, overpopulating the Earth and affecting so much of it's surface and other species, we'd consider it a plague worthy of nuclear weapons.

Odds are we won't be here to find out, and that's the problem right there. No one now wants to think ahead.

More than likely the problem will resolve itself and some lovely dystopian post-apocalyptic future will await.

In 1968 Paul Ehrlich published the "Population Bomb" about how the Earth could not support its population and there would be mass starvation and other good things. The Earth population then was 3.6 billion. Yet, here we are with a population in 2018 of 7.6 billion. Things seem to be going on pretty much as usual except that the Democrats are worse, much worse.
But-take comfort-many countries outside of Africa are experiencing declines in birth rates, including China. In some countries men have lost interest in sex at all*. In 100 years we'll wonder where all the people are.
Of course, a splendid little war might hasten the process.

Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who announced a sweeping "Green New Deal" on Thursday that promises to render air travel obsolete, get rid of gaseous cows and ensure economic security for everyone in less than a decade,

The resolution, for instance, includes a proposal to “upgrade all existing buildings” in the country in order to achieve energy efficiency, safety, affordability, durability and comfort.

The resolution also backs the concept of high-speed rail as a proposal to reduce carbon emissions -- but the FAQ goes so far as to urge that development “at a scale where air travel stops becoming necessary.”

It also promises “economic security for all who are unable or unwilling to work.”

What constitutes economic security is not clear, but the plan does call for programs including a federal job guarantee, universal health care and "affordable, safe, and adequate housing."

That high speed rail will be interesting. It will probably take a hundred years to settle all the "not in my backyard" lawsuits.

No reason to be disappointed. Cortez and the like are much smarter than the general population. They know how to make it work. Smarter than Lenin, smarter than Stalin, smarter than Castro, smarter than Chavez, smarter than Mao. Ok, you get the drift. Everywhere that socialism has been instituted, it has been a dismal failure. Venezuela should be the poster child that possibly even the millenials could understand. In a mere 20 years, Venezuela went from a rich country with a booming economy to become the dregs that it is now, with 3 million people having already fled the country to escape poverty, starvation, and an inflation index that can't even be comprehended by the rest of us. And all the top, (as of today) Democrats running for Prez support it. Hopefully, (if there are any Blue dog or semi-conservative 'Crats left), the Democrat Party will get turned around and back on course.
If you agree with the Progressives, it's freedom of speech. If you disagree, it's hate speech. There are no alternatives.

In her case it's not a democrat vs. a republican thing. It's not even a matter of her being wrong about some of those issues. It's an age thing. I've been dealing with it my whole career. The younger they are, the more they think they have all the answers, and think they are the only ones who have them. They think the whole world has to do an about face just because they have a diploma with the ink still wet on it

New York Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Thursday vowed to defund U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and said all Latino people must be exempt from immigration laws because they are “native” to U.S. lands as they are descendants of Native people.

She has a college degree in economics. Apparently where she went to school they didn't teach economics or history.

Greenpeace co-founder tears into Ocasio-Cortez, Green New Deal: ‘Pompous little twit’
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/greenp ... ittle-twit

Patrick Moore, the co-founder of the environmentalist group Greenpeace, ripped into New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez over the weekend as a “pompous little twit,” saying the Green New Deal plan she’s advocating is “completely crazy.”

In a series of tweets, Moore argued Ocasio-Cortez, who has called for drastically reducing fossil fuel production, doesn’t realize what would happen across the world if the radical plan were implemented.

“If fossil fuels were banned every tree in the world would be cut down for fuel for cooking and heating," Moore said in a tweet Saturday directed at Ocasio-Cortez. “You would bring about mass death.”

Referring to the New York Democrat as a “pompous little twit,” Moore said, “You don’t have a plan to grow food for 8 billion people without fossil fuels, or get food into the cities.”

Sounds like Green peace fell of the radar. Moore needed to jump on somebody's bandwagon.

It seems in so many countries that those in power/control only need the general population to do enough to support the haves and don't really care what happens to the have nots. That is for someone to worry about in the future. But there is nothing new about that.

I really should just stay away from political discussions. I think I will start now.
