Statements
Re: Statements
Observations:
Six priests (or priests in training, they are all quite young) at Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome. They have their surplice folded over their arms (except center guy, I can't tell if that's his garment or bunch of documents). This would indicate they were involved in some official function, possibly assisting with a service.
"Statement"
As this is a high holy place and they are directly involved they seem to be satisfied/pleased to be where they are and doing what they are doing. Joyous/Contented at fulfilling their calling.

Once I built a railroad, I made it run,
Made it race against time.
Once I built a railroad, now it's done --
Brother, can you spare a dime?

The owls may indeed not be what they seem but still serve an imperative function: they remind us to look into the darkness.

: The sculptor and the culture-audience for his statue admired the bravery and strength of this fallen foe, The Dying Gaul.
Maybe if he'd put some armor on that wouldn't have happened?

More than a little pride on display there, too. Happier now?

What statement is being made here? Can it be put into words?

Re: Statements
That's beautiful, Roger. I couldn't be sure, let alone put into words, what I thought might have been the statement there. But your insight seems the clear truth.
I wonder what others see there.
There are many other photos like it from that period in history.

I remember seeing such photos from after the Titanic sinking.
Torturers, White Racists, Gay Bashers, Rich Psychopaths.

Really? I never saw any of that, Roy. I know bodies were washing ashore for quite some time afterward, but I hadn't seen pairings like in the photo I presented here. Intriguing.

They weren't necessarily pairings. Some were entire families. No live persons in the pictures.

...another such Statement...
I find the phenomenon of folks having taken such photographs to be beyond words (from me)...

Re: Statements
I have read that during "Wild West" times a famous gunfighter or person of note
would be put on display and people could pay to have their photo taken with the body.
