Maybe that is why we now have OSHA.

I made that comment @ three months ago and I think that was part of the reason for it.

Having visited a machine shop with everything run from belts going to overhead shafts, this 1940's shop doesn't look too bad. But the guy spray painting the tender with the trucks attached seems a little odd as well as unhealthy.

The lighting leads me to believe that the photographs were taken by a professional photographer -- the shadows in the first and third photographs would have been produced by a flashbulb that was off to the side (not atop) of the camera. The photos are really nicely done -- in the first photo, look at how the shadow on the wall helps show exactly what the guy is doing.

I assume the photos were staged for the photographer -- the shop floor is immaculate, the painter is wearing a dress shirt and tie, the lady's white apron does not have a single spot it, etc. There is even a piece of cardboard clipped to the shelves behind the hanging locomotives. which ensured that the locomotives stood out in the photo.

Painting the tenders with the trucks was probably part of the staging.

Highly probable.
Egg salad is still chicken salad when you think about it.
