Sixteen examples of the Bird in Space (L’Oiseau dans l’espace, 1923–40) sequence, dating from 1923 to 1940, have been identified. Prior to Bird in Space he made the Golden Bird series (fatter birds than the space birds.)

A visit to a site, "The Art Story Modern Art Insight," provided me with further thoughts on Brancusi's Bird in Space, which I really appreciated because the comments were describing what I had thought all along and found gratifying to see explained in print by somebody else:

The sculptures:

+ [Brancusi] "...dispenses with the bird's physical attributes, focusing instead on capturing the essence of flight, suggesting a bird's swift upward movement."

It is that last comment that meant the most to me because it states exactly what I had interpreted when first seeing the sculpture, totally uneducated about Brancusi and unprepared when first seeing his work, having had, therefore, no preconceived notions about the piece.

The kids running around the giga-shit in the photos aren't wearing "naked suits". Supposedly, visitors are provided with these: "...Now, the sculptures rest on Persian rugs and are stared at by visitors wearing naked suits featuring various shapes and sizes of male and female sexual parts.

For Gantner, the naked suits are “a gift to visitors” that enhance the exhibition and their own experience of it.

Oh, I "felt it," first off. I just didn't want to say it here. Honestly. In fact, I was thinking Brontosaurus statement.

And we certainly will have no problem finding plenty of it, literally and figuratively. We cannot step out the front door without walking into a pile of it, sooner or later, one way or another, one type or form or another, one theater or another.

There are a number of those slide shows with the before and after pictures. It's not limited to women either, several male celebrities have butchered their faces as well. Initial reaction is "What were you thinking?" You either get old or you die. If they can't stand looking "mature" then they should have hired a special effects make up artist to come up with with latex appliances that would be closer to their original look. This butchery is insane. It reminds me of the Zemekis black comedy, Death becomes her.
