Had to look it up - A finery of sphinxes
The owls may indeed not be what they seem but still serve an imperative function: they remind us to look into the darkness.
Re: Question
Oh, really? Where does one find a finery of sphinxes?
Torturers, White Racists, Gay Bashers, Rich Psychopaths.

Yes, really. Names for many things exist that rarely get used or even have need of......
Where? Maybe in Egypt?

Oh Yes, and some of my favorite names are for groups of crows, of spiders, of larks, of roaches, and of butterflies....

Yes, really. ...Where? Maybe in Egypt?
Yes, but, I'd imagine they are very slow movers. One wouldn't want to get caught behind such a finery in traffic, huh.
P.S. Why would somebody even have come up with a name for a group of them. Where would one expect to come across a group of sphinxes. Aside from the "Avenue of Sphinxes" connecting the Luxor Temple and the Karnak Temple, who needed a name for such a collection?!

I have no good answers, but I did post these (page 1 of 2) some time back....

I like the "All Entries Verified" that's initialed - there's the person you really want to have a chat with about these names!

Re: Question
An itself of Yahwehs? Regardless of the form, it still suggests a multiple of Yahwehs, as if one could put on a Yahweh parade.

You have a wonderful eye for detail, as does Roger who sees details in a photo I had not noticed at all (like the family-jewels/nose guard objects).

Re: Question
What's happening to and on Antarctica?
For example, a large iceberg, Larsen-C, broke away from the shelf. It is 6000sq.km, many x's larger than London.
Also, like Yellowstone, is there a volcano far underground getting ready to blow?

Murph,
I refuse to worry about those types of events that might happen.
There is nothing I can do to stop them.
I don't look forward to what will become of me, my family and friends
and the rest of us earthlings but I won't worry about something I can't avoid.
