You can read clear through an article and see the acronym 5 times, but never what it stands for.

You just now made me wonder it some of those collections of initials are ways of hiding/being covert and not being so in-your-face with some matters (?)

I am not so certain that the media is to blame for the explosion in the use of acronyms. I think texting and all the texting related applications like Twitter have a lot to do with it.

Plenty of blame to go around. Try working for Gov't and drown in acronyms. Work in any scientific field and drown in acronyms - they make them up all the time....

The number of available Emoticons and the increased range of their expressions is part of this formula, too.

The computer screen has replaced the individual person's face.

Take as an example this forum. How many faces of posters have been seen. Chuck, yes. Roger, yes. Murph - sort of . Wayne, yes. Lucas, yes. Ace. Berk. Tom Dempsey. And....?

I can't even look at that photo - I only gave it a 1/2sec. glance before speed-scrolling right on by.

TWO eyes and FOUR limbs are my limit for welcoming animals into my presence. And no, I do not eat shrimp or lobster, no clams, oysters, mussels, octopi, squid...etc.

I take it you don't eat Lox & Bagels either ? It makes for a great Sunday morning breakfast. :)
