Well the first constructive thing that can be done would be to properly define things. I can discern a difference between migrants, immigrants, invaders and refugees, but, and I could be wrong here, just spitballin', it appears to me that not all of the members of the conversation can or do. As to your statement in your last about there being no answers to the base problem, you may well be correct, but clouding the issue with jargon and political spin will lead to no good answers, in anything.

I think you hit on something there. Perhaps this is the factor the USA is just not too adept at as yet. The uncertainty and inaccuracies may be allowing innocents to be hurt and evildoers with a longrange furtive plan to slip through with an eye to future shenanigans.
Jus' spitballin'. (I liked that expression and am adopting it, Tom. "Spitballin'." Luv it.)

The difference is obvious, but all too many simply don't care to make any distinction; they just want someone to blame. This tends to be what happens when a population is frustrated and needs a target - immigrants - to place all the blame on for all things gone wrong in their lives as opposed to looking in the mirror a bit for who's really responsible for where they are today. This is also what politicians latch upon particularly when they really do not want their actions being questioned or even thought about - divert attention and point the finger of blame at immigrants. Again, the real problems reside with the failures of your elected representatives for 30-40+ years, yet all to many buy into the easy solution and suck up the rhetoric and propaganda at the feed trough. This country has reacted like this with every wave of immigrants since it's creation and has failed to learn anything as with each prior wave not failing to join in the wave of hatred directed at the next wave of immigrants.

So just remember...........we don't want the Irish!

BAD PARENTING

The Mexican parents knew what was going to happen when they crossed the border illegally. And then you have the parents that sent the children ahead to cross on their own. These parents don't give a $hit about their children. Its all about getting into this country to take advantage of all the freebies. They will have many more children when they get in.

And they have a lot of people helping them that make money doing it.

How many parents on this forum would take their children and cross the border illegally into Canada or Mexico ???

No, I got the picture and feel very badly about it. Could that be why I have kept pressing on this forum for suggestions that could help solve or prevent such an atrocity? Yup. Voices here have analyzed and pointed-out some of the obvious badguys, but has anything substantive been suggested as a way to stop the abuse? Show me where. Quote it.

Perhaps folks should eschew voting for Republicans and Democrats since it appears none of their policies seem to work out very well. A while back our current Speaker of the House said "you have a binary choice" and I don't think a more illustrative statement of the base problem with this countries politics could be made. Two mega-parties maintaining a corrupt system that is by design conducive to abuse and corruption. Get more voices at the table, give people more choices and we wouldn't be left with an election where the only two viable candidates are completely unacceptable options. Might get the turnout about the mid thirty percentile which you were at it.

It's Sunday and this is supposedly a nation that embraces Christian beliefs and Christianity; it is when it's convenient, but usually it's very inconvenient to embrace much more than hypocrisy in the name of political expediency and self-advancement.

You've probably read how already - there's this book that Wayne likes to quote all the time as having all the answers to all problems. Maybe there's something in there...........

Yup, but it's all in the wisdom of its application that makes the difference. That's part of the reason I brought my question(s) up here, since over time, I have discovered there are some very kindhearted, good voices present on MTJ who often make very good sense and have the ability to think along such lines.

The only children being separated from their parents at the border are those whose parents have criminal records or those who brought their children across illegally. To believe they are all being separated is a Democrat talking point. Watch them on the different news outlets. The 'Crats are calling them "detention centers", which has a somewhat ominus name to it, but their quarters are quite comfortable with most all the modern amenities.

The truth of the matter is: if a family comes across and asks for asylum, they do not get separated, and the vetting process begins. That's one reason why many of them are asking for asylum 'cause that's what the open borders organizations have told them to do. The problem there is that rather than just accepting that they are being repressed in their own country, they must have some type of proof or a way that can be confirmed as to the oppression. This is not a new law! It's just that now the law is being enforced, and the left is up in arms about it. If you can't have laws, if you can't have borders, then you have no country.

Look where the "open border" policy has gotten Merkle in Germany. She's now being hammered by her own countrymen for the unvetted influx of mid-east and African immigrants, and Germany is now wracked with a much higher crime rate. Merkle may be on her way out.

I learned this perspective, just now, on the CBS (our Channel 2), Morning News, about those Mexican adults being separated from their children at the Mexican-USA border. A border official being interviewed stated that the adults are arrested because they have broken the law by entering the USA illegally. He further gave the example that USA citizens, when arrested for crimes committed in the USA (allegedly, of course) , are held in jail cells which separates them from their children. Convicted criminals do not take their children with them into prison/jail either.

Makes sense to me. But I continue to wish somebody would devise a way of making the separation drama and its effects stop, and that the warehousing of the children who have been separated from their parents at the border could somehow be stopped, even though it was the adults, the parents, who deliberately, however well-intentioned, put themselves and their children in the position of being arrested and separated.

Maybe this is the part in Wayne's book where the Meek inherit the earth. Doesn't explain how, but in this case they are taking over our country and the world one by one. In a perfect idyllic world maybe it could work, but not in ours.

I'm sorry, for many generators the world has been envious of the US and the American Dream. Tom is right, the majority of the world doesn't have what we have. I've only been overseas maybe 10-12 times and the best part of the trip was getting on the aircraft to come home. IMHO, part of the issue is before the internet these people didn't realize this difference, as much as they do today. Now they want what they see at any cost.

So today, the parts of the world that have pulled themselves up to a different level of lifestyle are targets for people who want to have some of that. We could get into many discussions on assimilation, respect for our laws and a bunch of other items, but I'm not addressing that.

What I do see is the lowering of our standards and morals and I attribute, correctly or incorrectly, this to these other people and especially the hispanic. I see such a lack of respect for women in these other countries and they behave the same way here, to some respect. Why we made Spanish a 2nd language so these people could communicate easier is beyond me. If you're here legally you can speak English well enough to get your citizenship or green card and you need to learn our language, customs and morals and not expect to live the same lifestyle you lived in your country, just in a different location.

They need to earn citizenship, it's not a gift to be paid for by taxpayers who don't agree to allow these people to come to this country. I take major offense to that liberal point of view. Don't spend my money on something I'm vehemently against.

Murph, the way the law is written, there are only two choices. Either they are released right into the US general population, or they go back. The Democrats stand is that they not be separated, not be charged with unlawful entry, and that all be released to the general population of the US. The current administration is not going to allow unvetted releases, and so there is the problem. As the law exists, it will require bi-partisanship to re-write it, and the President will be OK with it if they change the law, but for all their rhetoric, the Democrats just aren't interested in fixing it. You may remember the DACA movement. They started out with 800K DACA folks, Trump even increased it to 1.8 million who'd get amnesty, it passed the House with the Republican majority, but it got shot down in the Senate. The Democrats want amnesty for the 12 million illegals in this country, and they still want open borders. I don't think the border thing is going to happen, but the Republicans will probably cave on the amnesty bill.
