Thanks for that update, Robert. I was tentatively planning on driving there this week with my wife to see it one last time, but I would imagine that is not feasible now. Well, it will be interesting to see where and when the whole shebang surfaces again, in time.

Well, that makes it a salvage operation then - ever take down a sizeable layout? Hard to do with a successful preservation and re-assembly endpoint. Easy to do with a salvage the key bits with the rest going into dumpsters endpoint.

Whoever buys this needs more than good luck.

Maybe all the little homesteads, for example, are constructed onto their own expansive baseplates, so that all the details around them can be taken away along with each building and not lost in the dust, literally.

Nearly every structure on my layout is mounted on 1/16" Masonite, scenery & details applied, and then installed into place, and then blended into place. After seeing so many destroyed, I decided that mine should be removable.

Very interesting to me that you and I have the use of baseplates in common. I used 3/8" Masonite and acrylic sheets, black, which you can see in the photos. Would you show us an example of yours? That would be really nice to see.

Probably; those that are published prior to integration into their homes on the layout - I'll look. I may not have fully re-established the photo library when I migrated away from Photobucket.
