Bernie Sanders to announce plan to guarantee every American a job
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/won ... e0496001fe

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) will announce a plan for the federal government to guarantee a job paying $15 an hour and health-care benefits to every American worker “who wants or needs one,”

Just one little problem.

A representative from Sanders's office said they had not yet done a cost estimate for the plan or decided how it would be funded, saying they were still crafting the proposal.

Give them a shovel and put them to work fixing the roads and bridges -- maybe we'd at least get something done instead of just endlessly talking about the problem.

Sounds like total insanity to me.

Would they have to give up their Welfare checks, and receiving extra money per every new baby? Oh yeah, I can just imagine them bolting from their homes to line up for work.

Goodness, no. They might take a job being done by some immigrant.

Bernie's delusional, but we saw that in the last election.

Now, if the government said, "no more welfare to those who are capable of work" then we would be trading welfare checks for earnings. But, that presents it's own problems with vetting and corruption.

It would be real hard to live on $15 an hour around here. 40 hours a week is $600. Minus taxes. leaves you with $450-480. Welfare probably is better.

Bernie's delusional?
We as a nation can spend 250million per day everyday for 17 and counting years and we cant afford healthcare for all, and free education?

My parents went through and survived the depression of the 30s being poor way before I was born, I heard a lot of stories about what it took to survive and my dad didn't have a WPA or CCC job.

And they didn't have welfare and food stamps in those days.

We have free education in this country through 12th grade. And there is free health care for the poor, it's called medicaid and the ER at the hospitals. Even all the illegals can get in on that.

Stop being the world police force and giving billions of dollars to all these foreign countries. We can start there.

So, are you saying if someone doesn't have the education, training or ability to perform a job that pays more than $15 an hour, they should go on or stay on welfare? I know this is one of the problems with our welfare system. There is no incentive to get off of it.

I’m saying “480 a week won’t cut it.” Welfare or working.

Given that a 1 bedroom apt runs ~$2k/month around here, $480/week means you share a house with 3-4 other guys at the income level or you commute 2+ hours 1 way.
