Robert, that was my first impression, but why would a freight hauler be sitting in what appears to be a passenger terminal?

A guess: Chinese QJ class 2-10-2, w/o smoke lifters.*
Why in a passenger station? Who knows? Dual service???

The Chinses 2-10-2 was derived from a Soviet version.

Agreed though I believe this is the origional Russian version due to the skyline casing around the stack and forward dome

The details around this photo; specifically the broad gauge track and the emblem on the station wall to the left lead me to think the shot may be in Mongolia.

I'm still stuck on "lovely"..............

If I had a dog this ugly, I'd shave its a$$ and teach it to walk backwards.

I believe one was on the line that ran over the Kinzua bridge.

I think the Boone and Connecticut locomotives were Mikados. The Chinese QJ is a handsome machine. I hope one of them made it here.
