I think it is most likely scratch built. I don't recognize the tender at all, and while the tender could be an early import, it seems to me that surely the chassis is not an early import. I know the seller.

Well that boiler looks very similar to the CLW PRR H10 one I have. But the tender is unfamiliar.

Hi Carey,

Don't think the eBay one is the same. The rods look thinner and the middle sets of drivers are flanged. Very similar as I guess it would have to he as they are both supposed to me a model of the same locomotive, PRR H-10.

I am with Steve - a very good scratchbuilt. I forget who - John Page? - in the 1950s built one in the pages of MRR.

The CLW. Model has been around since forever - 1940? And remained almost the same until Smith changed the frame and went to plastic drivers. Big cast boiler!

hello all ... I found an illustration of H-10 construction series in MR 1954 .... not the same engine .... engine in MR , Saginaw /CLW all have an open frame under cab ..... ebay model is solid ..

MR article describes the tender issue .....big tender west of Pittsburgh ...little tender east ( Long Island RR etc ) ...

perhaps the MR article inspired the builder of the one found on ebay ....
