Honorary Degrees???
What benefit do they give the "honoree"? Why do Universities give them out anyway? Can I get one

Put them in the "So what!" file.
I now bestow upon you an honorary degree in Seaboardology. It and a buck will get you a large coffee at Mickey D's!

They are frequently a reward for a significant financial donation or a bribe to get folks on the stage during graduation ceremonies.

And Donald Trump.
Robert Gordon University in Scotland gave Donald Trump an honorary doctorate degree 2010 for the purpose of enticing him to build "the world's greatest golf course" in Aberdeenshire.
He built it;=> http://www.trumpgolfscotland.com/
After Trump called for “a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States” in December 2015, Robert Gordon University in Scotland promptly withdrew the honorary doctorate degree.

Thank you kind sir
But...I make it a point NOT to order anything where I have to say "Mac+whatever word" into a box to get it (i.e. McRib)

I was unaware of this Robert, I assumed you were talking about his earned degree.

You can cover up unsightly damage on the wall you hang it on. (e.g. holes, marks, paint blemishes, blood stains.......)

A friend has a huge Santa Fe railroad map on his wall; it covers a whale of a lot of unsightly wall damage. BTW, he cares nothing about AT&SF.

He never earned a degree from oxford. He left before completing his second year. Lots of rumors out there as to why he left. Looks like people choose the best rumor for their political alliance.
