Oh, yes, yes, yes, you're right! Talk about a misnomer! I happily stand corrected. :D

Murph, you associated trombones with tubas and "Seventy-sex Trombones" with "The Sound of Music." Those are not misnomers, they are "Senior Moments." :?

Can't be Wayne. Murph is younger than you and I. And you and I don't have any senior moments.

I think he got into some homemade apple cider that he is fixing for Halloween.

Murph is younger than us? He looks a lot older. Must be all that apple cider and other beverages he guzzles. That stuff is known to age one prematurely and to cause early onset of senior moments.

No, I did not "associate trombones with tubas." And regarding naming the wrong movie being a misnomer, why not? I simply named the wrong movie title. I wasn't misremembering any trombones flitting around booming "...the hills are alive.." in the Austrian Alps, with Maria singing instead of saying her morning prayers "close behind."

But thanks for the cheer-me-up moment. I've been picking up some negative vibes from you for a while now, but if it gives you a little cheer to do so.... Cheers!

P.S. A wonderful aspect, for me, of The Sound of Music was that Peggy Wood played the Mother Superior; she had played 'Mama" on a TV show from my kidhood, I Remember Mama, which the whole family used to gather around the Admiral television to enjoy weekly. She had a wonderfully comforting and friendly face and voice.

See, I am not going to tease you about how old the "Mama" show is nor that it was not even in color.

Three of us were inventorying the books in the hall Friday. Becky (20-year-old) kept looking at the published dates in the books and saying, "I wasn't even born yet." After a few of those comments, she asked, "When were you born, Wayne?" I said, "1942." She stared at me in disbelief, then asked, with an incredulous voice, "And you are still alive?"

Such teasing is considered friendly in the West--perhaps not in New Jersey.

July 1, 1949-March 17,1957. Unless they were on CBS during their early mechanical color system, it would seem unlikely they were broadcast in color.

Well, that's all good to read, except for the "backing off" part. Don't. You keep me perky. (I can't speak for the rest of NJ, though, in that regard.)

So much is lost when we do not have tone-of-voice and/or facial expression to consider in the conversation, that sometimes one can't be positive.

I have always assumed the best when iot concerns you, but I just thought I was feeling an "edge" creep in. If you say, "Nope, not true," that certainly is good enough for me, now that you tell me you have been just teasing. So, I say, keep it up. At least, now, I understand you have not been getting actually hostile or condescending for some unknown (to me) reason. Rock-on, brother. I can surely take it.

Look at Rufus and me . We tease back-n-forth, and I sometimes have no clear idea how serious he is. I just assume he is full o' fun and yack it up with him, figuring if I go too far with my teasing, he'll send me a PM and explain how I have been a horse's pahtoot.

And speaking of not teasing me about how old it makes me if I am familiar with Peggy Wood, first of all, I put the TV's label in my reply, whch surely dated me. AND. AND. OMG, do I look like Larse / Papa ????!!!

Yeegods. I think we do look alike!  :o (Thanks for posting that old photo of them!)

P.S. It takes a great deal to get me miffed, let alone ticked-off. Having had my father die when I was ten, just a year after I had contracted polio, and having recovered from both those disasters, eventually, and having made it this far in life, as far as being older looking than you, for example, I'm just glad to have made it this far. This old suit I'm in, well, all of its wrinkles are due to a relatively long life of fun-n-games; plus, some good old hard work and service to others. I continue to pay my dues and am glad for your company, sir.

You might have replied that you were recently reanimated........

And you might add that reanimation was done with a special APP from Microsoft, to make it even more believable. The younger generation will believe anything if ya tell 'em it's available on an APP.

Now what are you trying to do to those poor kids?
Teach them a lesson of some kind?
To not mess with grand parent(s)?
Let me/us know if it works.
PLEASE!!!

Revenge. They are embarrassingly good at electronic and internet thingies and kinda sorta smug when they show bride and me how simple something or other is. To catch one or another up in something like this would warm me for days.
