Murph's Next Vacation Spot

The owls may indeed not be what they seem but still serve an imperative function: they remind us to look into the darkness.

Well, she was hungry. Wonder what flavor the young man's shampoo was.

I think you are on the right track. One of my cousins on a camping trip was awakened one night by a bear
licking the Frankengrease Pomade off his hair. Frankengrease is a pomade with a fresh orange grove scent.

Well, now, Mr. Rufus. Are you sure you want to awaken that rant in me again, especially since I am getting closer and closer to a sojourn Upstate NY this month. Maybe.

I saw that young man being interviewed on the news toady, and he said that as soon as he became aware it was a bear mouthing his skull, he reached up & around and went at its eyes, trying to pluck them out. Cool kid! Now that's BOLD!

And in your little write-up, I loved the little piece that said an 11yr old shot a bear as it came at his family! Another cooley-dooley kid! And a great dad and mom (I assume) for teaching the boy how to fire a gun. Cool again!

Thanx again for the thrill, Rufybabes> P.S. You know you are a Wildman, right?

Yes, I've heard a person intending to enter a forest is not supposed to have used any scented soaps or aftershave, etc. which attract all sorts of wildlife as well as insects.

And by the way, I have no intention of sleeping in any forest anywhere and can't think of a single reason why I would want to do so.. I'm not even sure I will get out of the ML at high noon for a little walkie in da woods.

Since it seems that I am now rather allergic to bee stings and increasingly so, being a bit careful attracting insects is something I take seriously.

Yellowjacket nailed me on the wrist a few weeks back and I've never swollen up before like I did that time.......and it's only with the last 3 sticgs over several year's time that I've gone for it being an inconvenience to being a rather large swelling that increased over time and then moved up my arm.

And by the way, I have no intention of sleeping in any forest anywhere and can't think of a single reason why I would want to do so...

You could commune with your inner bear,

Murpf could always look into hiring a 12 year old with a shotgun to go along with him for protection.

That I'd only barely be able to bear, given such a bear-rich environment. I'd be too distracted by ostensible bear thumps in the night. (I watched "The Revenant" for inspiration and an education  , of sorts.)
P.S. I came close to leaving for Upstate today, on a whim, but the weather app on my iPhone predicted rain in the overall Homer- Cortland-Syracuse area for all of this week. I have no intention of traveling there just to watch TV in an old motel room. I need total sunlight and air and treeness. :D
(P.P.S. What a nice surprise! I was able to include a photo with this reply. Thanks power-that-be !) When I am able to be there, at this exact spot in the forest along Brake Hill Road, I am going to walk straight in, as far as you can see here.

No, I'm not leading any 12yr olds into deep forests, no matter how well-armed they might be. I don't even know where I could rent such a wonderful boy as in that video you so thoughtfully provided. (I'll be watching all those links about bear , too.) I'll take my chances with my trusty metal baseball bat (if just for the sheer enjoyment of reporting that back to Wayne-and-the-gang here), wasp spray (as prescribed by the local farmers), a Bowie knife, pepper spray, and my iPhone. , and maybe a wooden rattle. :?

You have barely scratched the surface of your bear existence:

All you need to satisfy us Murph is a camera. Everybody loves bears... bear in the woods photos are precious.

Just don't disturb them while they are enjoying the go.....

You're both deeply, deeply, deeply troubled. (That's a description, not a criticism .)

And by the way, if I see a bear taking a dump, I'll be sure to recommend him to your concerns for the environment, and perhaps, Wayneman, even ask him to recycle that paper (or is it leaves?)
