Happy to report some progress:

• After 45 days, we were able to put the car in the garage!
• All major appliances are in and operational!
• Garage is semi-organized!

One 3' x 8' pegboard sheet will go below this one and another will be installed to the right of it. An access hole will be cut for the electrical panel.

Slow, but steady. I am using 2.5" drywall screws through the drywall into the 2"x4" stud beneath. The pegboard is attached with 1 3/8" drywall screws and fender washers into the furring strips. Yeah, it's overbuilt, but that's my approach after the hard-won lessons of PRR Panhandle 1.0.

So far, so good.

Managed to get the pegboard installed on the back wall of the workshop. In the process, I used my Dremel Saw Max. It's very nice!

Tools, lots and lots of tools! I am the beneficiary of my grandfather's tools (the man that built the large ship models), my father's tools, and my own growing set of tools. The area will store the household tools (hammers, screwdrivers, etc.) as well as modelers tools. I may also put up some of those mini-drawer cabinets for parts. I haven't made up my mind on those yet.

My pegboard in the old house was much smaller and consisted of 3 areas. The areas just weren't well situated or big enough. I had tools stored in toolboxes and containers under the work benches. There were supports and pipes in the way and the room also housed the furnace and the hot water heater. Here's what the old workshop looked like:

The point here is to get these tools stored in a way that is easily accessible.

Right now, I have about 60% of the pegboard up. There are 2 more sections to go on another wall.

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to that. You know how it is. You know you have the tool (somewhere), but you just can't lay hands on it. And then you spend 30 minutes trying to find it.

This time around, I am really focusing on getting the workshop organized and laid out properly to make me more efficient (at least spend more time modeling than searching for some tool or part).

It sounds like you've really got that anchored into the wall, but make absolutely sure. Once you start hanging tools on there the weight adds up fast. There was a similar peg-board tool-rack in my garage when I bought the place. Young and stupid at the time, I didn't check to make sure it was properly anchored in the concrete-block wall. One morning I came out to the garage and the rack had detached from the wall and collapsed onto the hood of one of my cars...ugh!

Hats off for getting the garage cleared. I've lived in this house for 32 years and there are still a half-dozen boxes in the back storage room of the garage that haven't been unpacked.

I really do have them anchored. All the 1x2's that hold the pegboard are attached to 2x4 studs with 2.5" drywall screws. And there are a lot of 1x2 sections. Some are 7' long, others are just 8" long but in strategic places to reduce bowing in the pegboard.

Thanks, but as for the garage being cleared, it's not. We have made room to park the car in it, but there are other boxes and things to move. I am having more hanging racks installed to handle the patio furniture (folding table and folding chairs). This is still a work in progress.
