I saw that post by Peter, but since it was for a steamer I didn't associate the two. I've never seen an A&S diesel bring anywhere close to this kind of money and just wondered what was different? I never follow these listing through to completion, so maybe they all do and I'm the only one who is amazed.

Yet they are selling for quite a bit more than $50. I've been watching IMP boxcabs breaking $200.... That IMP challenger is up again with bids on it, too.

And then I watched a Car Works ND sell for under $100. Yeah, should have bid on that one,

Cast brass / bronze prices are up !

JIm's wonderful historic articles covering the "doorstop " era ...help shine a light on the early years of the hobby .. shining a light attracts bugs ... some new bugs to the field ...all you need are two new warm bodies who have the same interest to add one of those neat old engines to the collection / layout to have a active bidding war.

I'm a new bug ( but not the high bidder of this door stop) . New bugs make mistakes as they learn the ropes ...

Auctions and most notably ebay ... exposes a lot of stuff ... a buyer who just wants that one piece and does not want to keep searching just bids high ..done ..next .. does that change the market ? or is just two testosterone driven bidders for a fluke sale ? time will tell.... prices raise more of that item hits the market in hopes to catch the wave .... more comes out of the wood work prices fall .

Any one who has a surplus of Adams pieces ... that is searching a new bug ... just email ... as they say a fool and his money are soon ....

Seriously, perhaps they are a specific truck made for a specific tender to make the model an authentic original, kinda like "matching number" older vehicles. I have no idea as I don't follow these models....

Bob if you have a sand cast truck great ..trying to respect the integrity of the original builder ...

It is easy to see why the Atwater/ General Models Corp / All-Nation F units were the run away best seller over the Adams and Sons casting shells .

Shame Atwater never completed the planned E unit.

Glass bead, files, belt sander, body filler, sandpaper and paint and that will look fine.
Personal Turner:
Belt sand the top of the nose down as it approaches the windscreen. File and sand. Take the side window frames out bigger. That kind of stuff.
