Yes, I can understand that 1:48 might be too small. I used to build 1:35 Tamiya military figures, and wondered if the scale might be large enough, to do recognizable faces.

At that scale it's more an issue of the skill of the sculptor and mold maker. You can definitely make noticeable adjustments to the chin/cheek/eyes and they can even be subtle. Well done 1/43 figures can have pretty good facial detail but they seem large next to true 1/48 scale trains and they tend to dwarf "traditional"/O-27 equipment

I finally got around to finishing off that 3D-printed 1/2400 Royal Sovereign-class BB:

I look at these pics and realize how far gone the old eyes are. She needs a bit of touch-up but suitable for the game table.

Just how long is the model? My guess it's smaller than I think it is,
Because of eye and hand problems I would never consider painting it.

I've got some Arttista tramps and a few other 1/48-scale figures waiting to be painted but I'll probably wait a bit before starting those. I've gotten myself caught up in this wargame stuff again and I need to let that run its course. I dropped some ships off with a guy down the road from me that paints miniatures professionally...when I get that stuff back I'll probably be too depressed to continue, lol...

Added masts, fighting tops and spars on the foremast. Would be great if I could figure out how to do the rigging for the wireless aerial, lol...

Hmmm....never known Arttista figures to be that rough; raw fro the mold and not cleaned 1st before being sold?

That is a problem; couple that with slightly less that 100% steady hands, and there's no fun at all.....

Agreed...my near-vision has gone to hell. Glasses are worthless, so I broke down and bought an Optivisor. That's very helpful, although when I photograph stuff I've painted I see all of the flaws that are invisible to me when I'm working on it. That and adopting the two-foot rule keeps me satisfied with what I can still accomplish.
