Saw that. Looks mandatory for the doorstoppers among us.
I just ebayed a pair of Scale Craft (I think) passenger cars. They are short of the "standard" length for heavyweight cars but good for the Reading whose cars were shorter than usual. I'm impressed with the die work. The cars are also, my goodness, heavy. No extra weight needed at all

Saw that book when it was first advertised and bought a copy. While I'm not willing
to part with mine at half-price like Turner, I am somewhat disappointed with the
content. It is a general history of O Scale maunfacturers painted with a very
broad brush. Mainly what companies were active when.
This semi-afficanado of doorstops (me! ) finds the current series titled
"O Scale Archeology" running in OST and authored by Jim DeBruin to be of
much greater interest. It covers the "whats" much better.

Willis' book could have / should have been so much better ....he obviously knows a lot about the subject adding some very good period tie ins to the era of the birth of O gauge . The book is so confusing in layout that you have to search up to 4 locations for find the information about one company .

How can you do a history book filled with photos and no captions ? What was the publisher thinking ?

The book is so darn skinny..... it would not have taken that many more trees to reproduce most of the manufactures catalogs within the book to fill it out ..a caption here and there to point the direction .

So lots of information , some of it is great ....but overall falls short of the historic benchmark reference tool it should have been.

Still a most on the library shelf till it's replacement is penned.
