It would be splendid if this forum could adopt the process used over on NK, especially for those of us who don't wish to be involved with the Photobuckets of the Universe (an inoculation, in my case, generated by Turner's complaints)

As far as I know, Bob's issues with Photobucket are unique to Bob...........it's so simple to use a 5 year old can do it. Even my daughter possessed of a scathing opinion of all was impressed that the Dad could use it. Now go get yourself a 5 year old!

I do have a range of offspring and grand-offspring that could do it in a heartbeat. But then, I'd open myself up to the pitying looks I get whenever modern technology just irritates the ever-loving crap out of me.
Just got an iPad on account of because Verizon had this super deal. My first foray into the hell of Apple. Thought about putting the damned thing on CraigsList.

My bff, all the way back to hay skool, makes you look like a piker. Shaves with a straight razor, takes photos on film from an ancient Minolta, anti-computer except his kids set him up with email so he sends me all sort of "humor," builds exquisite model airplanes from balsa and paper, has a collection of Henry rifles and so on. Worships the memory of John Wayne.
Anyway, I have to try to keep up in order to avoid pitying looks from my offspring

Not really -- correct term is "cheap".

Commonality: in shaving - I don't and have had a beard since 1974; I'm hopeless with a camera - daughter does do wet film photography......

Paint was chipped and peeling when I took this in trade.... Rather than strip and re-do, I cleared away all of the loose paint, cleaned it, and then with a small brush fill all of the open areas with Engine Black (Floquil) putting 5-6 coats on to match depth to the original paint, let dry a few days, and then re-coated with Rustoleum Matte Clear...

Thanks. Got to change out those trucks to some metal wheels.....

Never think all that highly of my photography - if I get as good as adequate, I'm happy. All I have is a very basic camera that has way too many settings on it for me.

One thing that has been helping recently is that I changed out 3 of the 5 light units in my shop.

Really nice job on the paint restoration; good method to keep in mind as I have more than a few chipped up pending restorations that I would prefer to keep the original lettering on.

Assume this a kit? I confess I rarely can identify/remember the manufacturer of these even though I own a few myself.

A bit late with a comment...had the audacity to be away camping...always admire your model building Marty. Gives one a level of quality to aspire to after studying your fine workmanship so often.

Now I admit to having never seen the prototype for these pickle cars in a consist, and my train watching goes back to the mid-fifties. Where were they most commonly found?

Mid-west and upper mid-west through to the eastern shore. Good book out recently on the topic, "Pickle and Vinegar Makers of the Midwest"

What type of car is this gondola?
It appears to have a lower floor in the center.
Does it also have drop ends? Or no ends?
I lived along the B&O and in the steel mill area
and I don't remember seeing one like this. ????
