Notice the shuttered windows.
Wonder why? Vandalism? Masons?

Assuming that the RPPC shows a winter scene given the bare trees (or the gypsy moths have been
around earlier than reported), could be that those working shutters have been closed in anticipation
of foul weather? Or perhaps closed as a matter of course during the winter months for additional
protection from the weather, and only opened for the services?

My garage has working shutters, but only time they are closed is when I'm painting as it gets
mighty dark inside when they are closed! There is also a surprising amount of hardware involved
that is left off of decorative shutters.
Take care,
Wolfgang

Rocky Springs Church was a pay for pew church that required members to sign a financial agreement between the trustees of the church and the pew holders requiring an annual fee for occupancy of the pew.

So, what's the actual address that you used to capture the photo? Cambersburg? Thought it was Chambersburg, :?

I am sure that is the reason Wolf. The church is abandoned most of the time. Pennsylvania has some very rough storms. By the time someone got out to its location to close the shutters, it might be too late.

Even here in Tucson I have had to replace my skylights and front windows due to a hail storm.

These are better close up photos than I saw on the news tonight. IMO.

Here's a page out of one of my wife's cookbooks from the church her and her mom and dad went to in Vicksburg:

Seems like one of the other books has an older photo, just haven't located it yet.
