Now, as we no doubt all know, that li'l tale comes from the mind of an extremely well-balanced and super-normal American. Yup. No room for any doubt whatsoever. Happy new year. This bodes well.

You're too young for the cultural reference. He was my non-hero from the very earliest days of TV. Think Buffalo and marionettes....and a princess..........and a Harpo-style squeeze-horn....

No, I recognized the reference, but was not sure of the why...

No, I recognized the reference, but was not sure of the why...

I thought that might be the case. The reason for that reference was trying to be funny but knowing that, no matter how hard I might be trying, I was not. That's why Clarabel. I knew (surely, he must have known, in a few moments of clarity) I was missing the mark but was working energetically at it - not quite a buffoon, but darn close to a silly-rump. (Honk honk.)

(Didn't he become Capt. Kangaroo?)
P.S. As a boy, I disliked Clarabel. (But I never liked Harpo either :| )The only character on that show I liked was Princess Summer-Fall-Winter-Spring. But Buffalo Baaaaaaaaaab, and Howdy Doody (we used to refer to him as Howdy Dookie  ) about whom I always thought should have been munching on wood-chips,) we thought seemed wimpy (I was always slightly leery of da Buffalo, frankly). No kid I knew (all only mild miscreants; one or two rascals) ever watched that show unless he was home sick.)

In Pittsburgh, we had a show that I really liked: "Kookla , Fran, and Ollie." I liked them, esp. the dragon, who'd turn upside down when Fran came on stage, because I thought she was very pretty, polite and amiable.)

It provoked a raised eyebrow and wonderment......

I don't think my kids liked Howdy Doody very much but they really wanted to see Kukla, Fran and Ollie.

Yes, I've seen a few avatars, here, that prompted exactly that sort of reaction, at the very least.

Your intentions are always far beyond question. You are a righteous dude. (Note, no funny face posted here.)

Btw, your new slogan speaks volumes, as well.

Life can be confusing. (That's my new slogan-of-the-moment.) :?

If one states that they do not care, it should be done with care and completeness and not in passing partial intent. Deliberate insouciance is also possible.......

Try a new slogan that incorporates something about "selective comprehension".

Apparently that selectivity is such that at times I am misinterpreted and/or misunderstood.

I shall have to try to use smaller words, shorter sentences, and assiduously avoid the paragraph.

We move on as needed when needed.

The Italian Cow.

The only cow in a small town in Northern Italy stopped giving milk.

So the town folk found they could buy a cow in Sicily quite cheaply.

So, they brought the cow over from Sicily.

It was absolutely wonderful. it produced lots of milk every day and everyone was happy.

They bought a bull to mate with the cow to get more cows, so they'd never have to
worry about their milk supply again. They put the bull in the pasture with the cow but
whenever the bull tried to mount the cow, the cow would move away. No matter what
approach the bull tried, the cow would move away from the bull, and he was never
able to do the deed.

The people were very upset and decided to go to the local veterinarian, Dr. Santucchi, who
was very wise, to tell him what was happening and to ask his advice.

"Whenever the bull tries to mount our cow, she moves away. If he approaches from the back,
she moves forward. When he approaches her from the front, she backs off. If he attempts it
from the one side, she walks away to the other side."

The veterinarian rubbed his chin thoughtfully and pondered this before asking, "Did you by
chance, buy this cow in Sicily?"

The people were dumbfounded, since no one had ever mentioned that they had brought the
cow over from Sicily."You are truly a wise veterinarian," they said. "How did you know that
we got the cow from Sicily?"

The Vet replied with a distant look in his eyes: "My wife is from Sicily."

A couple of young lads were at my door the other night looking for a donation for the new municipal pool that the county was planning to install.

I told them I'd help them get started and gave them a glass of water.
