Did you know that if you put your ear up to a stranger’s leg you can hear them say, “What the F’k are you doing?”

My Dad's brother used to own this former church in Kensington, MD. The steeple was removed before he bought it. There were still crosses painted on the wall in the attic above the ceiling and internal walls that were added to make it into a residence.

Give it a second or two after clicking and the map will change to the picture.

Dave,

Is that your hometown?
Some interesting photos at the bottom also.

Baltimore is my hometown although I have no desire to live there anymore; I hate cold weather.

That was my uncle's house that we visited several times a year; I always enjoyed those visits. There used to be a cherry tree right outside the back door; oh, those cherry pies that Aunt The baked!! Their biggest complaint was the birds "cherry picking" most of the cherries. Note that there is a postcard view of it when it was a church; I would like to find a copy. When Uncle King passed away, I was hoping to get his stamp collection but I have no idea what happened to it; the p/c would, most likely, have been in it.

The house appears to be larger than the church. Might be the perspective. ???

Pretty sure that's the case - just perspective. I think I posted a card of the church by itself from a different angle, bu tif not I guess I need to go look for that card.

First Church of God, Westminster, Maryland, established 1912:

A good spot for a Sunday picnic with a bunch of well-meaning, good-hearted congregants.

They need work on spelling though:

I suspect the church has been extensively remodeled over the years, but it's looked like this as long as I can remember.

What's up with the loudspeakers on the steeple? The bell's not loud enough?

No shortage of room to tie up the horse during services:
